I'm getting a new kitten....

Well as Micky is not at all a lap cat and spends his day guarding the perimeter of the complex from dogs and cats, I've decided to get a new kitten. I am hoping Micky will spend more time at home and have a playmate.

I am getting a female ginger persian next week and looking for a name (any suggestions please)

Just an update on my new kitten

I have had him for just over two weeks now (he was supposed to be a she) never mind!

He has been named Rufus and when I first got him he was in very poor shape, been badly neglected. The woman said he was six weeks old and the vet said he was almost 3 months, he only weighed 600 grams. You could feel his spine and his little ribs stuck out! He was dewormed and treated for cat flu and came home. He has not stopped eating since, although he has slowed down a bit lol

Two weeks later he now weighs 1kg and you cannot feel his ribs and spine any more. His fur is starting to thicken as it was pretty manky for a persian. He went back to the vet for another check up on Wednesday and I asked him to check his ears as they were pretty dirty and I had been trying to clean them gently with some olive oil and an ear bud. The vet put some drops in and fished around, put some of the gunk on a slide and looked under the microscope. Wow I was shocked to see all the bugs living in his ears (poor little soul) Three days later there is still gunk coming out of his ears and it has occured to be that he was completely deaf because of this. He responded to my call this morning for the first time and I am so chuffed.

How someone could have neglected this lovely bundle of fluff beggars belief, however he is now a very happy kitty with a loving home

You angel, Cru. For someone who I initially thought was not an 'animal person' you are a real softie and any cat or dog who comes under your roof is ensured the best of homes.


75% of ginger cats are male so it is not surprising that Rufus falls into this category - despite him being a pedigree both his mother and his father would have had to be ginger for him to be a her - summat to do with X and Y chromosomes.

Thankyou for your kind words. I am not a huge dog lover, however would never harm any animal. It's heartbreaking to see how some animals are treated...

Well if he is anything like Micky then he will be catching 2 lizards a day plus pigeons, and other birds all with a bell around his neck

My linus dosent catch a cold, He is the most useless cat ever, But Tigger that got killed before my very eye's was a born killer, If she found a nest she would kill the lot of them and bring them home, I use to dread opening the door on a morning, Body's everywhere, She had a bell too,

Imagine what Tigger and Micky would be like without a bell?
