FEMALE Ginger cats are quite rare, I believe.
Looks like she can hold her own, I got a Ginger male, he will live in Tenerife soon with Alfie. Alfie is a black lab but yesterday he thought he was a cat and decided to try and come in through the cat flap. I will put a pic on later.

The woman who brought the persians out to Tenerife to breed as she thought she was gonna make a bomb clearly knew nothing about cats!! SHE was the one who said Rufus was a female and it took me all of 20 seconds to discover he was a he! Stupid bitch

Ginger cats can be male or female, but female gingers are far less common.
This is because to be born ginger, all of the kittens 'X' chromosomes must have the 'ginger gene'.
Male cats have 1 'X' chromosome and 1 'Y' chromosome (XY).
Female cats have two 'X' chromosomes (XX).
So it's alot more likely to have a male ginger since they only need the one chromosome to carry the 'ginger gene'. There's much less chance of both 'X' chromosomes in a female having the 'ginger gene'. But it does happen.
Related: To get a tortoiseshell, the cat MUST have TWO 'X' chromosomes, both with 'tortoiseshell gene'. Therefore you could say you it's impossible to have a male tortoiseshell (XY).
However some genetic mutations occur where a male is conceived with XXY and therefore a male may, through some mighty big odds, come out tortoiseshell.

Today I got a call from a very nice Spanish man. We could undertand very little the other was saying but I got the gist of it....Micky was at his villa and was obviously friendly enough for the man to get our phone number off his collar and I could hear Micky meowing in the background so seemed ok. Eventually we found his villa and he let us in only to discover Micky had legged it! The man said he had been there since 10am so he thought he was lost (which was very kind of him) Anyhow the real reason Micky was there it seems was because he fancied an African Grey for his lunch!!!!!!!!!
