D has probably seen a couple of threads that have been on Tripadviser today, where someone is having problems choosing accommodation for next December/January.   They have been told the complex they are going to is residential and therefore illegal.  This is their reply to have you contacted the owner and what did they say.

    >>>the owner has e mailed and agreed with it being residential as i questioned them and said it was illegal to rent short term, they have said they can give us a signed contract for a 3 month rental just in case anyone turns up at apartment while we are there, or we can just say we are friends using it, as thats not illegal to do.<<<

Makes you wonder what else the owner will say to rent illegally.   Would any of you rent this apartment? 2419626307

Normal human behaviour then. If drunks fall off your balcony Reg or trip over your coffee table will they be insured? Because their holiday insurance certainly wont cover them.  Would any of you rent this apartment? 3275847336

Strangely enough, I asked out travel insurance company about renting a residential apartment and they said there was no problem provided that we didn't do anything reckless that would endanger ourselves. It was treated no different to any other property.

Of course it is its just the crazy Spanish politicians flexing their muscles to try and right the wrongs that have so clearly gone belly-up at their hands and total mismanagement of the economy. Whole towns have been built and a friggin great airport in the middle of nowhere all supposedly backed by the banks but of course they have now washed their greedy mits of it and left it to the local municipal councils to try to clear up the mess. Naturally they have to answer to the same politicians who fecked up in the first place. Greed, greed, greed. Normal human behaviour of course but will lessons be learnt? No chance. I see Jack Straw and Malcolm Rifkind have been caught out selling 'cash for questions' not the first and wont be the last either. GREED. Patsy has just come in to ask what I'm doing. Venting my spleen I say.  Would any of you rent this apartment? 3025408739 She dont care, she gets control of the remote control.......

I asked my insurance company about renting out a residential apartment, and they said not a prob as long as you declare what your doing and pay the appropriate premium, which was not much different than the cost for when I didn't rent it out...

Lot of scaremongering on some sites about so called illegal renting...

Think those that have been fined completely disproportionate amounts can now claim their money back, well if they were stupid enough to pay up anyway ha-ha. Foreigners may have I suppose. I presume Reg will be supplying the details of his income to the relevant fiscal authorities which is of course where they should have been looking in the first place but never mind, take the easy route.  Would any of you rent this apartment? 3025408739

I sent another email to multi trip. this is the reply i got

    Thank you for your Email.

Your policy of insurance will cover you under the Emergency Medical and other expenses once you are within the territorial limits of the policy regardless if this is a private let apartment or tourist complexes.

    I hope the above helps.

Trip Advisor have completely wiped that thread that Gypsy mentioned. That site is scared of its own shadow. Anything remotely off the middle of the road is binned. Would any of you rent this apartment? 1498946960
