I never removed any post Howard, just merged the threads and perhaps you posted as I merged. Ban yourself if you like, me power mad, not on your life. Can I try to explain that lurkers are good?

You can call them lurkers, spiders, crawlers or bots and they come from websites such as Google, Bing etc looking for specific words that push you up the ratings. The more words they find that they are looking for the more popular you become and your website climbs up the search engines pages.

If someone goes on the internet and looks for Tenerife forums, we along with the other three forums associated with Tenerife will appear, the closer we are to the top the more likely we are to be chosen by the person wanting to find out about the forums. If we use social networking website such as Twitter and Facebook and type something about ourselves on there, you will see that as well as the humans that watch us the number of bots also increases. We had over 50 of them yesterday when both a member and ourselves tweeted several of our posts.

Of course, there will be some human lurkers as well but I think we have tried to make all of these welcome unless it has been obvious from the get go they were trying to cause trouble. Others have come on board and then been conspicuous by their absence – their choice.

So if there are any ‘lurkers’ reading this I think I can speak for the majority, feel free to sit on the sidelines until you are ready to join in, you may need a little time to realise this forum is different from others. You are allowed to go off topic, you are allowed to question what Mods/Admin are doing, you are allowed to insult other members (providing it is in fun and not malicious). You will not be shot down because you have an opinion that may not be politically correct, in general, you are allowed to say pretty much what you like so if there is something you want to tell us, be it a joke, wanting information, or just the odd quip then please join in but don´t feel pressured - your own pace is fine. :well3:

Poor old H, he gets it in the neck every time. But at least if he's having digs at lurkers he's leaving the rest of us alone hehe.

Last union meeting, I drew the short straw to hold office as spokesman for the coming year, hence I have to come out of the shell now and again.
