We had a coalition in the war you know, Partys didnt matter. After the war the peeps said feck you Churchill, and voted in a Labour Govt. They invented the NHS, and a post war building boom. Many Paddies were imported during this period to lay bricks........ Then the 60's turned up, architects discovered concrete and built tower blocks to replace slums in our inner cities, except Scotland of course who stubbornly stuck with their tenements........ Then the 70's turned up. I voted for the first time, Europe? Yes please I said. Then it was the 80's, Maggie turned up, every man should own his own house, even council tennants with a brain, thank you Maggie! Since then? Nowt to speak of...... Did the recent coalition do any good? Time will tell. Will HS2 go ahead? I sincerely hope not, if only for the Brummies sake. Calais to Birmingham in 3 hours.

The volcanic ash thing, I had flights booked to come back to the UK, they went tits up, every internet shops full of twats trying to get flights that just weren't happening, I just sat back and sipped my cool beer, got an extra couple of weeks out of it....
