Happening to often, needs sorting out, would never go to an air show, remember the Red Arrows doing there thing above my house in Edinburgh and thinking this is a bit crazy,,, too many dead expert ace flyers as far as I'm concerned...

Re: Shoreham Airshow
My home town Shoreham by sea in West Sussex is tonight in a state of morning and grief. Today there has been one of the worst air show disaters in history and it has hit a very well connected community very hard. Shoreham by sea is a small town of which I come from, one of the largest ever families. It is a town where many large families have all got on for many years, some being related and some just very good friends. Yes there have been feuds and battles won and lost but you can be sure this beautiful community will all pull together now. For the many Shroeham families and to name but a few, Tanner's, Laker's, Saunders,Walkers, Whites, Browns, Henshaws, Pannels, Milners, Bridals, Millis, Knee's, Page's, Muggeridges, Eame's, Slarks, Knightingales, Wilkes and many more this is a time you will all be feeling it and hoping that none of us have family or friends (and many of us are friends) that are harmed or worse dead. Please lets all feel for other families that have lost or are beside themselves for these reasons that we do not know. Lets also all be patient with getting to where we need to be or with family, friends or staff being late to where they need to be, due to the roads being closed. lets all pull together and be one as we used to always be. I may have moved many miles away from this beautiful little town but I am grieving tonight with the rest of you as I sure many others that remember their roots are. RIP those that have tragically lost their lives and a speedy recovery for all those injured as a community all the families and friends of these people can be sure we are all feeling it with you. xx

Worth a read:-

4 June 1972
3 June 1984
16 June 2006, is that the same type of plane...
15 September 2007, Shoreham, so not the first time...

Re: Shoreham Airshow
Someone mentioned that the engine may have stalled but to my untrained ear, that engine was going full pelt all the time.

Re: Shoreham Airshow
There is a flash on the video at 55 seconds in...
First video I saw of it on TV which was taken head on, it looked as if the plane levelled out then suddenly dropped from the flight path it was on, I initially thought has the pilot blacked out cos like you say it seamed as if the plane was still under power , but if engine had gone tits up may still have been making a noise but no power...

Re: Shoreham Airshow
Saw a bit on the news a couple of weeks back about the enquiry coming to the conclusion because a couple of boxes on the health and safety side of things hadn't been completed properly that lead to the crash...
What a load of bollocks...
This sounds a bit more like getting to the point http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-sussex-35873276

Re: Shoreham Airshow
We that live or lived in Shroeham, which I have for most of my life, have always said the airshow should be over the sea which is about 100 metres South of the airport, just greed of organisers. Eastbourne is over the sea and equally as good

Re: Shoreham Airshow
Understand what your saying TD, I lived near the Royal Highland Showground/Edinburgh Airport, when the Royal Highland Show was on the Red Arrows would often perform,,, right above my feckin house, scary, so I know exactly what your on about,,, but where I'm comming from is they've had an enquiry that don't exactly pinpoint the cause or the accident, yip after what happend the show will most lake place over the sea, but the question of what exactly went wrong ain't been answered...
