    Wasn't even intending to slow down and have a look, brain dead if not compleatlt dead...

    Oh, and if he'd been killed it would have been the railway companies fault for not having a double gated maned crossing...

    Don't  know what the visions like in a modern train like that, but had the opertunity sit in the drivers seat of a Deltic some years back, one of the things things that stuck in my mind was the lack of vision, looking straight ahead it must have been quarter of a mile or more ahead of you before you could see the track, suppose the theory being all the driver needed to see was the signals which were more or less at eye level...
