On this day in History...

Plantagenant road in North London. Bought a Morris Marina Diesel from a car dealer there. This was back in the days when diesel cars in UK were rare. Ended up converting a few myself. Used BMC J4 vans as doners, mostly ex post office vans. 35hp they were, I know this cos I have got same engine in my yacht. 0 to 60 was about 1 minute, top speed about 70mph. Yacht does about 5 knots, about 7mph.

Oh, just to put this in perspectve, Patsy's £500 diesel Skoda Octavia Estate has 110 hp, flying machine. Used to sell those converted Marinas for £800.
