I dont do insurance. I will take my chances and if something goes belly up so be it. For example I was burgled in 2008, cost me about 2500 quid to replace what was nicked. Read somewhere a burglary to your property is likely once in 50 years. You do the sums. Similarly with buildings insurance. Had 3 fire scares in my life but put the feckers out myself, fire brigade was actually called once. One was caused by Patsy leaving a hob on with a pan of oil, smoke damage, other two by kids playing with lighters, a mattress and a toy box. The last one was the most serious but I coped.......... Fire was put out by me who can cope in a crisis before fire brigade turned up, probably about 10 minutes before they turned up ffs! My house is well over 200 years old and each brick is worth well over a quid so I shall happily collect all those up even if an earthquake strikes and the place looks like rubble like in the Himalayas. Then I will be left with at least 2 building plots which is about what its worth anyway......... So whats all this waffle about? Car insurance. Law says you HAVE to have it. Indeed you wont get too far down the road before plod pulls you if you havent! Comparethemarket.com I have been using lately. Thats the meerkat one. Buy Insurance and they send you a Meerkat toy. Of course I thought it was a con but no, to date I have 3 meerkat toys, Aleksandr, Sergei and Oleg plus a bug! I have made a little bench for them to sit on and they are placed on the dashboard of my campervan. Everybody loves them, including MOT inspector, who is impressed with their seatbelts, cable ties! Just as well really as their little noses are only about 2 inches from the windscreen!
