Re: Building Collapses in Los Cris
Two confirmed dead both women, 4 pulled out alive, another 9 still missing and no heat from body scanning is latest I have just heard, Sarah has still not located her husband who would have most certainly have been in the building. The rumour still says a main support wall was removed by a building company, whether it was not a structural wall on the plans or not, whichever if that the case if there was a projecto in place then a structural engineer must have OK'd it surely, someone will be doing a long sentence here. Rumours say they are expecting the death toll to be at least 7.

yeah to be honest not really something to jest about on a forum of Tenerife, sorry but my opinion as a resident and feeling the mood of many, you drive in to Los Cris and it is uncomfortable, no one about and no traffic hardly, just a a village that sits silent.

Re: Building Collapses in Los Cris
Translation of official Arona press release regarding the building collapse in Los Cristianos,
6:00 am, April 15th
At 5.15am on Friday April 15th a second body was found, a woman, age to be determined. At the moment there are now two people confirmed deceased, the other is a women who was found by the rescue services yesterday (Thursday) at 6pm.
The information that can be confirmed at the moment is the following:
2 deceased 11 persons that have not been found (this number includes the two deceased as their identity has yet to be confirmed) 3 persons injured, only one of them is in a serious condition. "
Then today at 2.30pm: Four of the people unaccounted for have been located elsewhere, so the number “missing” and who are thought to have been in the building is now reduced to five. The number of injured is also reduced from three to two because the third only suffered minor cuts and bruises and was treated for shock. And so, the latest toll is: two dead, two injured, five unaccounted for.
At 4.45pm: Tenerife president Carlos Alonso has also declared three days of official mourning throughout Tenerife. Which will last from midnight tonight to midnight 18/19 April, and will involve flags flying half-mast on municipal buildings. All official events organized by Arona Ayuntamiento will be suspended for the period.
The island president thanked King Felipe and Queen Letizia for their concern over the tragedy, and expressed his gratitude to those engaged in the search and rescue operation.
Local ex-pats have asked can they help with donations etc - This reply is from official source and provided by a Clio.
At the moment everything is being controlled and co-ordinated by the Arona council. They are asking people to let the emergency services do their work uninterrupted as the delicate searches continues.
Regarding the families that have been made homeless, etc. Many of them are now staying with family members. Others are being very well cared for by a team of professionals and carers via the Arona council (the team includes psychologists, translators, social workers, etc). If they don't have family to stay with they are being put up in hotels in the zone.
In the near future there no doubt will be a public call for assistance, and the council will let people know what is needed and how to deliver it.
Unofficially - Emergency services and support, 200 people and 5 sniffer dogs, worked through the night and are still digging. Four nearby apartment blocks were evacuated overnight to Princesa Dacil, mainly to avoid noise and dust.

Re: Building Collapses in Los Cris
At least the number of missing has come down. Must have been a supporting wall that came down for whatever reason The building was split in two.

I know I have made light of the situation on one post but I only said what most were probably thinking...
People have and will continue to make light of tragidies, I even did when Annies dad died, I said something like "they switched the oxygen of at 4pn but the stubborn old bugger hung on till 7:30am the next morning"...
It don't mean I have no feelings,,, it's a joke,,, a feckin joke, much like religion...
Oops, there I go again...

Reg hasnt made any jokes about it but then he is there and I bet he has had a nose around the basement of his apartment looking for cracks, or Russian builders............ There is a nice crack up the side of Kevs place, you could get your finger in it but he assures me its OK........ Some nice ones in Green Park but they covered those up with strips of wood. Sorted then, I think not!

Rock moves. Thats the way the Earth evolves. Not in everyones lifetime so we take a chance. I was really surprised to see executive type homes sitting on the edge off cliffs propped up with foot square lengths of timber in New Zealand. And this in a regular eathquake zone ffs! Nice view but jeez......... And for parking the car they had what looked like domestic decking held up over the edge with 4x4. Personally I wouldnt wanna ride a motorbike on it.

Re: Building Collapses in Los Cris
One is believed to be SARAH'S Husband. Yeah I know people make light of things but ok if all done and sorted but when people still be lloked for noy so good. Cracks at my house are in may places it is where they build one part and then the next bit and they just palster over, the buildings are still sound but the thick plaster shit will always break.

Btw, what are you doing back so early? I thought you were on the batter today?? Don't bother watching MOTD. Rashford scored but Villa deserved to win in all honesty.
