This will sound like my Dad but here goes, when we were at school we were expected to help with the potato harvest for 3 weeks every year when we were attending secondary school, during the summer holidays loads of families went berry /fruit picking , where I lived if you were a grafter at the tatties the farmer would ask you back to lift the turnips/sugar beet etc during the hols , can still feel the backache when I think about it
