Not really excited but it will do the job. Sure these clamps will come in handy for other jobs too.

Yeh 12" heavy duty ones. Job looks easy in the Haynes manual. I will find out in a couple of days.

Today I will buy some Kronenborg in the pub. Spring Compressors arrived today, spent a few hours in the rain trying to remove spring, not off yet (you were right Reg). Tomorrow the grinders coming out, throw the Haynes manual away.

Yes, Mr Haynes never learnt how to spell two words, “seized and corrosion”.

Wish to hell I had paid someone to put this spring on. Got the old one off in about 5 minutes with grinder, good start. Put new spring in vice and proceeded to clamp up compressors, needs to be about 10 inches long. Well, nearly got there and then one compressor slipped, spring jumped out of the vice and whacked me straight on the chin. Jeez, nearly knocked me out it did. Good job it never hit my head. Might end up with a blue chin, nice bump on it too. Anyway I will try again tomorrow, this time I will stand to one side.........

But I did buy the tool Reg. I always try and do stuff myself anyway. Bit late to take it to a garage, only three springs on it now!

Ordinary compressors aint man enough Vince, Springs on merc are big boys, We have tried with 2 sets and 2 men, They will kill you, Caged compressors for mercs, Big buggers. You aint seen nothing like them, Cost a fortune, And if your not doing them every day not worth buying,
