A doctor who listened for once

Right, some of you know I suffer from episodes of extreme fatigue. My old doctor has done feck all for me over the last number of years. Decided yesterday to see a new guy ( old doctor retired last week and this guy replaced him) He's much younger, I'd say only qualified a few years. Anyway, I gave him my rant for a few minutes and he never opened his mouth. Then he asked, "What do you want me to do for you today?". "Listen to your patient and help me get to the bottom of this tiredness" I said. He gave me a thorough examination ( found out I've got Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) and took bloods. Not only that , but I have to go back in on Friday to give more bloods. He's going to send them off to 2 different labs and has asked for a load of tests to be done. He said it sounds like Thyroid problems but not to rule out stress as a major factor in the problem. Strangely enough, I told him yesterday that I was coming to the end of this particular bout of tiredness. I told him I knew that because I had started going for a pee regularly again. Next thing I knew, he had given me a urine sample bottle. "Bring that back full on Friday" he said. He wants to check for kidney function and double check ( with the bloods presumably) for diabetes. Finally, a doctor that listens. Thats half the battle i think. He also said that the previous diagnosis of depression should not be ruled out but that all these tests would at least rule out other factors. He then told me that I don't necessarily have to feel depressed to suffer from it??? "Why call it depression then" I said. He said it may be clinical depression where the brain isn't producing enough the seratonin enzyme. Fair enough" i said, so why didn't the 5 different types of anti depressants work over the last 8 years? He looked in my chart, no mention of being tried with different medications at all. "There's a surprise" I said, " and you wonder why I had no faith in the previous diagnosis".

I have just split this from McQueens ails as I thought 3F deserved his own thread. Trust this is OK.

Good to know someone listened D, hope things improve from now on and they get to the bottom of what is causing your problems.

I'm happy that you sound worse than me, Dont take that wrong, There seems to be a lot of strange ailments about, Probably to do with what we eat these days, At the clinic yesterday the doc said Diabetis is getting out of control,
He believes its something to do with what is eaten these days, You never heard of it 10 years ago, Well not a lot,

If they were of the halucanergenic type, bad spelling, then they would not help, Good Luck D.
Said you are peeing normally, still taking till friday to fill a pot though.

Rang the doc's today about the blood tests. Nothing has shown up (except cholesterol of 5.5). Kinda pissed off and glad at the same time. Good that nothing untoward is showing up but still no answer to the tiredness

Third, the tiredness thing, I’m much the same, doctor says I drink too much, sleep all the wrong hours, have the wrong diet, ok, I know that, don’t need him to tell me, like you I just want to know why I’m tired, fu~king useless doctors...

I agree with both Adam and D. Why can they not tell s why we are suffering these ailments. They are suppose to be specialists
