Best Restaurant in the south
I had intended to visit a couple of restaurants next month but they are in jeopardy for various reasons. If you had a choice of ONE restaurant in the south/west of Tenerife, where would you go and why?

Bar Nuestro,Los Cristiano's.
I go here 3 or 4 times a week when I'm over and I never had a bad meal.
My favourite dishes are the goat and sea bass.
The paella is top quality too and the leg of lamb is brilliant.
It is not a swanky place but a typically local place and the workers are friendly.
You wont pay silly amounts for top class food either.

Re: Best Restaurant in the south
I rarely eat in the west but I went to Bobby's the new Indian in Playa Arena 2 weeks ago and it was lovely, it is next door to Casa Pepe. I did a review but it won´t be published until 7th July if you want it before then let me know and I will email you a copy.
I have heard great reports of El Rincon Canario in Alcala but not been. Owner is English woman whose Bulgarian husband is the chef. Most expensive meal on the menu is steak at €8 but everyone says it is very good. Really must give it a try.
Also want to try El Rincón de Juan Carlos, Los Gigantes but only for a special occasion, it is not cheap, tasting menu €75 per person [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

El Cedro on The Patch.
Good food, great service, not bad prices and you can have a laugh with the staff (if you want to).

Where is that Mike? Is it on the Blaydon Races side or The Jags side? I can't find it on Google.

I can vouch for it, we ate there a couple of times when we stayed PS2 and La Siesta and also recently (last year) when Stu and Sadie stayed at PS2.

Its about four doors past Montana, which also gets good reviews. Prefer El Cedro though.

Well worth it´s money is the lunchtime food in Esmeralda in Playa San Juan (on the main road at the taxi stand) coming from Alcala just after the first roundabout. Mainly lorrydrivers etc and you can aften get 1/2 portions.Canarian only.

Think it is in this alley that runs between the tops and the middle streets in Los Cristianos (just along from the roundabout that leads to San Telmo)

If you're standing in the church square looking at the church, take the road at the top left that leads off the square.

Re: Best Restaurant in the south
If you are really hungry and you are staying (or living) near the Chafiras try BRASERIE TEMPESTRE, it's on the San Miguel road 100 metres from the roundabouts close to the Fire and Wok. I ate there twice last week and found it excellent value for money. The basis is that you visit a hot and cold buffet which is extensive (as many times as you like) but don't fill up too much as a waiter then visits your table with various meat skewers: roast chicken, chicken breast rolled in smoked bacon, choritzo sausages, gammon and pineapple (gammon was proccessed and not that good), rump steak cooked to your liking, pork rib, and sliced leg of lamb, all accompanied by various hot veg from the buffet. There were also (if you had room) a small selection of 'puds', the wine was cheap and cheerfull at 8euros a bottle and the service was genuinely attentive. All this for 12 euros per person.

I can only think of the McDonalds near the Conquistador, where's the one in Los Cris?

Yes that sounds about right.
While I'm here I tried to do that signature for Joel a couple of weeks ago but made a cock-up of it. Looks good so I guess LR had a hand in there somewhere

Oh yes know it now. Someone said last night there is a really nice Polish restaurant near there called after a TV programme. It was either Place in the Sun or Take me Out I can´t remember which but I it sounded worth looking for.
