I don´t understand why anyone should wait so long before making such allegations. If they are genuine it is sad but after so many years it seems to me someone is trying to make money and the dead cannot defend themselves. Now if they named those who are still alive it would be a different story and we would see if the BBC covered it up or not.

Welcome back Reg. Did you get all the painting done?? Getting back on topic, this is the first I've heard about this story. Not surprised there have been allegations considering he made a career out of kids and was/is an easy target.

I am in the minority then. I am not in the JS fan club. I hated him as a child and despise him now as an adult. I never thought he'd be a paedophile; but a mysogynistic sexual predator he certainly was - and he never made any secret of that himself.

I'm actually seriously angry with Esther Rantzen who claims she heard all the rumours but did nothing about it. For such an advocate for Childline, she has shown her true colours.

I have never liked him either Elle and certainly don´t condone it if there is an ounce of truth but I just wonder why NOW. These people say they were raped 40 years ago, they may have been frightened 14 year olds, but once they were in their 20s or 30s they should have said something not wait until he is dead.

The fact that s'one doesn't come forward earlier seems to be a typical reaction in sexual abuse cases. An old primary teacher of mine was found guilty of 13 charges of varying sexual molestation ( he was charged with 78) and these only came to light after he had retired. The same has applied over here with the majority of sexual abuse claims against Catholic priests. Its strange because thinking logically, surely if s'one came forward sooner, they may prevent such things from happening to others, but then again, I'm not sure if I would ever think logically after something like that.

Sadly, people don't always feel that they can speak out. It can take years before you feel that you can discuss things with others. Shame... guilt... thinking people won't believe you... ... ... all contribute. All exacerbated when the accused is such a public figure.

As a child, they are made to feel that it is normal... or sometimes that it is they themselves in the wrong... and not the adult who was supposed to be protecting you from the bad things in the world. You lie to teachers etc when questioned, because you feel more guilty about what you must have done to deserve it. Then time goes by, and you reach adulthood, and because the humiliation and fear is ingrained, you feel things are best left buried. I'm afraid that logic or trying to protect others doesn't always come into it. It's hugely emotive, and what others see as logical doesn't always play its part in the situation. You try to deal with it in your own way - even though it would have been better for you and for others had you been brave enough to speak out before.

I haven't seen the programme yet, so can't comment on their specific experiences or feelings... or why they specifically felt they could speak out now. I can only draw on my life's experiences. I only hope that if their experiences are real, that they can now get some kind of peace, and be able to heal emotionally.

I read the following today and I tend to agree with what the writer says, but you probably gathered that anyway.

I am NOT defending Jimmy Savile, I have never met him and I have never liked him as a person, but I will defend any mans /womans rights to a fair and just trial to be proven if that person is innocent or guilty.

One other thing I would add is the fact that "celebrities" such as him do attract "groupies", young girls willing to do almost anything in order they can can brag about it after the event, but when they get older perhaps they regret it --perhaps they realise there could be money in the story -- only they can answer that. But if this is the case it is no excuse for an adult to accept "favours" showered upon him by youngsters, but there again, if you were in the same situation, could you HONESTLY say you wouldn't be tempted by a nubile young girl offering herself to you,<<<<

Did you notice the effort they put in to the young police women that was killed, Yes very bad situation. But they threw everthing at it, Never seen as many plod in one place at the funeral, All getting paid no doubt, I personaly have no time for them, Today when picking Lexie up from school, An imported person driving a private hire car -(I wont call it a taxi beause it isnt) Parked on the yellow zig zag lines outside the school, I said" do you know what they are for" ? Well he looked at me like How dare you speak to me, So i saw which child he picked up and reported him to the school, When i came out Dibble was parked down the road , so i told them, And they thought it wasnt a problem ?, So i rang the cop shop and told them and gave dibbles number to the officer, When i got home i reported said private hire to hackney carrige and took their name, Just incase nothing gets done and a child gets run over because he or she wasnt seen, So to me the police are a shower of shite, Always have been and always will be, Just a job to get and dont make waves until you get the pension, Oh and get plenty of sick leave too while your at it,

Hang on Reg not all in the police force are as you say as in every work force which number thousands there are good and some not up to it. Its exactly the same as in the motor trade you have some who take the pi$$ while others try to do a decent job. I image the family of those two lasses who where just buried would not agree with you.

Some of them are all right. My mates ex-wife got me off a few speeding tickets . She got a transfer to a midland's town. The first evening she was walking the streets with her partner ( big bloke), this nut case off his head on drugs was mugging an elderly fella. Mate's wife ran over and got the side of her head caved in with a hammer. 4 weeks in intensive care in an induced coma because of brain swelling. She now has a metal plate in her skull. I will agree though, that the vast majority of coppers around the world are on a power trip. You know by the condescending patronising way they talk ( down) to you. Point taken innit, They must be some good ones, I just never met one yet, There has to be a reason they dont get any respect from the younger ones though, I watch them patroling in Tenerife and i must say they seem to take a pride in what they do, One day a tea leaf robbed a bag off the beach, Suddenly the plain clothes ones came out of nowhere and arrested him, I thought what a refreshing change to know somebody gives a frig, Guy was bundled off pronto, Made me feel all safe, Report something in the UK and your lucky to get a crime nummber, I dont bother anymore, Yet drive without any documents and you get a fine through the post, Together with the photo a camera took, I dont do that though, I play a straight game, Which is why i'm squeaky clean record wise,
