Thanks guys. That is just about the size of it Gypsy. We'll go for a few bracing walks, visit some old friends and look for a nice place or two for a lovely meal. We'll take a few photos too and upload them so we can show you our shitty weather!
P.S. Great tune that, it's in my CD collection!

I have that picture in a clipper frame, it was a birthday card from Janet, And another of Steve, When he was Frank Bullit leaning against a door frame, with a shoulder gun holster, Do you know, its like looking in a mirror, Yes, Should have gone to spec savers, I wonder what he would look like at 57 though, Also people say Janet looks like helen mirren, I just dont see it,
Must be an age thing.

Wester Ross.
LR, do us a favour and move these posts into their own thread so we can have your holiday report all in one place. There are some really nice images here and when you get back you can carry on telling us about it.

Nothing to do with modesty, he was walking so fast and I was trying to get the window open to get a shot before he was past us!Underdog wrote:I noticed you left his sack of spuds out of the picture,

We aren't far from Loch Ewe, where the Russian convoys left for Murmansk and the White Sea ports. There is a monument at the mouth of Loch Ewe now commemorating those who died in the Arctic convoys to Russia.
The old anti-aircraft gun sites are still there as well but are in a dangerous condition. I climbed over the fences to get a better look at these old defences.
It always stirs something in me when I see things like this and realise that nearly all of the men who left this Loch and manned these A.A. sites are all gone now.
These are photos of the waters below the guns and through which the convoys had to sail...
