I'm totally confused as to what is happening within a few minutes of each other I received the following.
425 Students returned to school after earthquakes in El Hierro. http://www.europapress.es/islas-canarias/noticia-425-alumnos-frontera-hierro-regresan-colegios-ultimos-movimientos-sismicos-20110929101227.html
Then a couple of minutes later
El Hierro hit by 39 earthquakes on Thursday,7 of which measure more than 3 on the Richter scale :what: http://www.europapress.es/islas-canarias/noticia-isla-hierro-suma-39-sismos-jueves-siete-encima-grados-escala-richter-20110929111956.html

Perhaps the sudden return of the students caused it.

For me at least this puts life into the stories so far, seeing the people who actually live there, the old women who can´t sleep, the young who try to carry on as normal and the old men being brave saying they have seen it all before in other countries.

The Island of El Hierro experienced the most violent earthquake to-date last night.
Measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale the earth tremor which lasted 6 seconds, was felt in most of the island, especially by the residents of La Restinga, who were alarmed enough to leave their homes and seek refuge in the open. There were no injuries but the quake caused some landslides on the La Restinga – Tacorón road and the Los Roquille tunnel was closed to traffic.
This is the largest magnitude earthquake recorded on the island since earthquake clusters began back on July 17. Since that date over 9,600 earthquakes have been recorded in El Hierro with epicentres to the north and south of the Northwest ridge and at depths of between 10 and 15 km.

Well El Hierro is now on RED ALERT and over 500 people have been briefed on evacuation procedures. Must be very frightening for those involved.
Full Story
But hey us women just speak a load of crap so don´t let me stop you from going off topic. And before you comment - I have no objection to off topic in the right place but IMO this should have been kept as a serious thread.

yes i quite agree some people do recognise a serious thread. i was in Armenia in 1988 after the earthquake, 25000 dead.further quakes whilst i was there, frighting.Gypsy wrote:Well El Hierro is now on RED ALERT and over 500 people have been briefed on evacuation procedures.
