Never understood my mother being upset at finding a Mini gearbox casing in the kitchen sink, well I had to wash the broken bits out somehow before I rebuilt it...

Problem was the planet gears were never designed to do what they were asked for in rallying, on a motorway trip they'd be lucky to revolve once if even at all, with the amount of wheel spin in rallying the poor little things couldn't stand it, spinning so fast on the cross shaft the lubrication system was not designed to cope with it, result planets seize to the cross shaft, bang, hole in casing etc, £££... Answer, limited slip diffs... You ain't got a limited slip diff, well don't spin your wheels to much in the snow or it won't be a Merry Christmas -£££...

Remember, you heard it hear first, fun and facts this forum, it's the future...
