These forums come in right handy sometimes.

Well my old Merc is just coming up to 200,000 miles so I thought I would give it a birthday and service it. I have had it for nearly 6 years and done 68,000 of those miles so it was kind of overdue.    
All went well until taking off the oil filter, I couldnt get the filter bit off the cap, turns round but doesnt seem to unscrew or anything. So I googled it and end up on Merc forum, sure enough, other peeps have been perplexed. Turns out you just give it a tug and it pops off! It did.   
Seven and half litres of oil it takes, wont be doing it again too soon then. Old oil looked okay too, probably thanks to the previous owner who used to look after it properly.

Problems with heater blowers on Mercs, not easy to get to them but not impossible. Put new brushes in mine but didnt make any difference, worked all summer packed up in winter.    Turned out to be a connector block behind heater controls, WD 40 sorted it. Packed up again last month, banging the dashboard didnt work this time, turned out to be connector block to heater blower. Touch it the fecker works......... More WD 40.  

Some are 10 minutes, others you just dont go there
