feckin thing passed!! Need new brake discs on the back. He said they were very rusty and stopping the pads making decent contact. If the RSA ( Road Safety Authority ) stop me at a side of the road inspection, they'll take the van off me.

It's all to do with load sensing, I guess what you carry around in the back of the van the majority of the time is nowhere near the vans maximum carrying capacity, therefore what happens is the front brakes end up doing all the work and the rears just rust up through lack of use...

sounds logical. but i dont know if my van is modern enough re: load sensing?? Wouldn't that mean it would have sensors? Its a bog standard Merc Vito thats 12 year old.

You can have 4 different testers and 4 different mot fails, Vosa should do them and cut out the crap

There is an investigation going on here about 4 women who were killed in a crash. The autoengineer who was investigating said the car wasn't fit to be on the road. It had sat its NCT ( MOT ) 6 weeks previous. Investigator found severely worn ball joints. Witness to the crash said the car suddenly veered across the road into an oncoming truck. Wonder will anything be done about the car test examiner.

Not after 6 week i dont think, corrosion is a different matter tho
Its quiet easy to be broken off part way through an Mot, then you go back and forget where you were up to, Few times i have done more work after getting back to base,
I have been using my place over 30 years, we trust each other, never had a problem yet
But cars are like women, you dont know whats coming next

Probably something more like, changing the cd, lighting a fag, speaking to someone, adjusting the radio, want a sweet, etc, had more to do with the accident than something technical...

Nope, it turns out 2 different engineers came up with the same answer. I can't find the original piece in the paper but I might have got it wrong re: ball joints. It might have been steering linkage that broke. . said that whatever went wrong would have caused sudden loss of control. I suspect something else. They were all coming back from some sort of all night prayer vigil with their prayer group ( 3 Nigerians and a daughter ). Could be falling asleep at the wheel!Adam Mint wrote:3rdforum wrote:There is an investigation going on here about 4 women who were killed in a crash.
