It could do with one imo. Not a particularly scenic village.

I agree about Silencio, we used to call it cockroach alley but personally I like both Los Abrigos and particularly Las Galletas

Yep, Silencio is like wild west frontier town. Galletas immediately next to it however I find quite nice. Marina there too and it still seems to be mainly Spanish. Quite like Los Abrigos, used to be very Spanish but lots more foreigners there now, cosmopolitan? And next down the coast of course is El Medano, windy city, hang on to your hats!!! Also very nice, now very much a surfers town. Newquay in the sun. You missed out Golf del Sur in the middle, Brit speaking ghetto.  Makeover for Los Abrigos 3025408739

Maybe you were there when the fair was in town? Or are you lumping it in with El Fraille?

If you walk along the prom as far as you can go there's an area completely covered in mobile homes ,caravans, slums on wheels call them what you want ,the place is a dump , and as for the local government offices ,enough said.

Yes there are many caravans etc parked on the edge of many seaside places. It happens all over Europe, wild camping its called. They tend to congregate together for security reasons, most you wouldnt describe as gypsys either, more retired folk like yourself, most of those camper vans cost upward of 10K. You like hotels, some like camping, indeed not averse to it myself, although I probably wouldnt camp somewhere like that. Funchal strip would be just great.  Makeover for Los Abrigos 3025408739

Yip, we used to have a mobile home, more than 15 years ago it cost us 24K but we never did wild camping always sites approved by the Camping and Caravan Club in the UK and facilities in a few were on a par with 5 star hotels. Transport

Back in the old days in the VW camper, JYY 453K (bet its still out there somewhere, maroon) we used to park outside caravan sites and utilise the shower facilities, lucky indeed if you caught some warm water!!! Nowadays the vans (slightly bigger) have on board showers and cassette toilets to make life on the open road more comfy. Indeed I own one, Peugeot Piggy I call it, its got nowt on the yacht, even though the yacht has no shower, or even hot water. If theres a bargain to be collected in Leeds for example I know I will be welcome camping outside the McQueen residence. Subject to the local Reg byelaws of course! Home is where you take it.
