This is the Hagia Sophia museum in Istanbul. I came across a documentary about it last week. It was one of these programs that captures your imagination until the next ad break ( bit like Tony Robinson in Time Team
). Anyway, it was built in 550 something AD and only took 5 years. Apparently it is twice the size of the dome on Capitol Hill in America 
and that one took 11 years to build. Goes to show the engineer's in pre- industrial times knew what they were doing!

Time team is shite, they always find about a square centimetre of broken pottery and then go on to tell us this proved there was a palace here about the size of Versailles and with bigger fountains as well!

Found out you can do trips in a Spitfire from Duxford which is not far from me. They have a two seater one there same colour as the one I saw. Price? £2995
