Wonder why Cromwell vandalised the church if it was Anglican?

Re: Galway
Went to Matt Malloy's today but himself wasn't there so didn't stop. Had a nice Irish stew in Dunning's Bar on the "Octagon".

Bit of "sean nos" dancing there. It's the old old old style, not the Michael Flatley concoction. The Lone Ranger wrote:Dunno why, but I could have watched this all day!

The first pub, blue one called Ui Neachtain's, that my favourite pub in the city. Really old style inside with snugs and every so ofter an impromptu music session. The Lone Ranger wrote:Galway sights...

I didn't know what it was called but I knew it was different, no high kicking stuff.

Re: Galway
O'Connor's Famous Pub. This is where Cam and Trish and myself went last night. I haven't set foot in it in 20 years. It has music on every night and is touristy. Combine those two, and I tend to avoid big time. However, the band last night was easily in the top 5 bands I've seen in a pub over here, ever. They did a cover of Johnny Cash's "Hurt" that turned into the most rousing instrumental ending that lasted, must have been 5 minutes. I turned to Cam at one stage and remarked that the entire pub had gone quiet. People were just stopped while on the way to the bar for another drink, just standing there. I don't think the barman poured a single drink for that song

Re: Galway
There is a pub on the roundabout , Lohan's, opposite the Seapoint casino ( the taxi rank is outside this casino) that does superb pub grub. I should have pointed it out to you last night, its very near where we parked. Short stroll up to O Connors after.
