The GPO started putting those front rubber wings on because everybody learned to drive with them and all had the wings caved it, Same as the telegram boys on the BSA Bantams,

That was one of the conditions on me getting taken on by the GPO. "Pass your driving test in June '77 and you can have the job". (Got took on 20th June 1977).
