Update?
TD, what is the news on Jan's Hip Replacement, you last said you hoped it would happen 'next week' (that would now be last week) and where is she having it done, here or in the UK?

Re: Update?
She is supposed to be having it done Friday. She could have had Uk or Tenerife as her choice but decided Uk for mant reasons but mainly because of it not being so hilly, no stairs in our flat in Uk and more family there for the suppirt after.Another reason is she has a full electric recliner and adjustable bed in uk. The languagebarrier was also a decision swayer. There is also a big chance in Tenerife as something as silly as a mosquito bite that can cause difficulties in an orthopedic implant. Thanks M.x

Re: Update?
Are you still in UK Kev? Seems such a shame you took time off so you could be there immediately after the op and then they go and postpone it

Re: Update?
Yeah but shit happens. All done now, it was a mess the surgeon said. She will be able to walk with less pain now. She still wont be able to walk far because of arthritis but the pain relief will make a big difference.

Re: Update?
Hi all, not been about as spent lot of time at the hospital. She should have been in 3 days was in 8 days due to many complications. Blood loss during a very difficult op was a big factor but low blood pressure and high heart rate made her very poorly and she spent two days on oxygen and a drip and five days catheterised.

Vals cousin went in for the same op , she had exactly the same complications as Jan but had an heart attack as a bonus, thankfully she is home now.
Kev, please tell Jan we are thinking of her, hope she recovers quickly

Re: Update?
The way they talk about these joint replacement operations they make them sound simple, they ain't, it's major surgery with a long recovery period involving a lot of physiotherapy until the benefits kick in...
Best wishes to Jan...
