    So this new rail link between London and Birmingham is going to take 14 years to complete.

    How come it only took I. K. Brunel 5 years to build the Great Western Railway by hand then ?

    Including bridges, viaducts and tunnels.

    Who wants to go to fecking Birmingham anyway ?

    Because he didn't have any tree hugging bunny loving do-gooders objecting that worms and beetles will have their natural habitat interfered with and all these animals will have to be relocated to a specially built wildlife reserve??

    On the news they said it would cost something over 5K pounds per inch. I can think of better things to spend the money on. Get youngsters trained in something worthwhile in a manufacturing company as opposed to giving them a degree in long distance spitting and it will providing the goods are worth having pay for itself by selling to the masses.

    Israel passed a law today to allow the jailing of illegal immigrants for up to 3 years without trial. I bet that will soon solve that problem then.

    Here's a bird's-eye view of the route. It seems like The telegraph may be scare-mongering as it seems to show the rail having to go through a lot of villages. That can't be right?
