Re: Culinary delight thread...
Tonight's tea is courtesy of pool night, to explain, the pub hosting the match allways puts a spread on for the teams after the match, some do sandwiches, sausage rolls etc, one pub just buys in a selection of pizzas, some of the pubs have kitchens as they do pub grub, so stews and curries are sometimes served up, but last week it was a big pot of Mexican food and wraps, boy was it yum, I had three...
So tonight I'm gonna attempt it, the ingredients don't sound over exciting but boy was it tasty, I'll be using two to three tins of baked beans, one tin butter beans, one tin red kidney beans, one courgette chopped in to inch by half inch chunks, a red and green chilli and penne pasta, I'v also got a tube of tomato purée and chilli powder which I will add if I think required, plan is to cook it all up in a big pot, all except the pasta which get cooked separately then mixed in at the end, season to taste (Spicy), then serve it in wraps just as we had it in the pub, just hope it turns out as tasty, oh, and of course all washed down with a few glasses of the red stuff...

Re: Culinary delight thread...
We were given half a dozen fresh hens and ducks eggs from friends. We had a couple boiled and even buying fresh range as I do, they couldn´t hold a candle, they were the best eggs I have tasted in ages.

So Meryl Got given a couple Hens, oh and some ducks eggs and she boiled them. Funny story about Chickens. Someone said on FB does anyone sell chickens, I said we do, others said Iceland etc, they turned up at the shop to buy two live chickens, fortunately Stu was on his own.

Well I get all the bits out ready to start cooking, Annie the carnivore pipes up, "where's the meat", I say there ain't none, she, I need meat, well there ain't none, I'm copying what we had and it was yum, she, I want meat, well we don't have any so tough, so she phones her mate who was coming round to join us, so a pack of mince arrives with her, so in it goes,,, was still good, well seven clean plates can't be wrong, but the meat added a different taste to it, I preferred the original, but think the pub had some other spice in it that I didn't, but will find out, guy who runs the pub also does the cooking, he's also in their pool team so will ask him what was in it next time we play them, loads left over, Annie's son has a few mates round for the big fight, so don't think there will be much left for breakfast...

Oh, I used two tins of beans and the tomato purée, didn't use the chilli powder, I could have stood it a bit spicier but had to think of others...

Re: Culinary delight thread...
Could be, I recall, having a fish soup up near Santander, saffron infested it was, tried to copy, never got it right, you could either have it as a starter or main meal, first night in restaurant it was a start, every other visit a main, and you got a pot full, enough for four, plus loads of crusty bread...
Yum...
Yum...

Round two...
Plan for todayy was Sunday roast, but due to unforeseen circumstances that ain't happening,,, Hic,,, so loads of last night meal still in the pot, but I was not happy with iit, so today Mathew, two onions and a garlic clove softened down in a pan, two oxo cubes and a splash of Lea & Perrins plus two crushed garlic cloves in the big pot, them all mixed together, oh, and a dollop off chilli powder, much much better,
And there's some left even after seven of us having a second go at it...
It was a big pot...
