Adam Mint wrote:Just finished second set of antibiotics for that cough/flu type thing, still not sure if its fully gone, same as last time I finished the antibiotics, still just the occasional cough, then it just got worse again, three of us in our quiz team been on antibiotics for it, plus the girl in our team who's got it has passed it on to her daughter at home...
Well gave it a week since I finished second batch of antibiotics, still felling shit and coughing, phoned doctor yesterday, if you phone between 1430 and 1500 you can actually speak to the doctor, which may save a visit, anyway doctor I had seen twice for the problem was only there temp and had moved on, so spoke with another doctor, as he hadn't seen me he was not prepared to prescribe further medication, was told to turn up today at 0830 and to tell receptions of conversation with doctor and that I was to be given an emergency appointment (that means you sit around for ages waiting to be seen),,, so turn up this morning at doctors 0825, there's three in front of me waiting on the surgery opening who have been told the same, anyway waited half an hour (could have been worse) and I see a doctor, a different one again from whom I had spoken with, so tell the story again, he carries out various checks, says he aint gonna prescribe any further antibiotics as they aint working, blood tests and an x-ray required, I'm given a letter to take to the hospital and sent to see the doctors surgery nurse for blood sample.
I get called in to nurses office 0950, she gets kit out to take the blood, but first she takes my blood pressure, twice, first readings 133 over 88, she thinks its a bit high, so I'm told to relax and she takes it again, 124 over 90, she's happy with that, does she draw the blood, no,,, she pulls up a questionnaire on the computer screen and starts going through it:-
Q. What height are you.
A. Six foot one.
Q. What weight are you.
A. Thirteen and a half stone.
She don't believe me, on scales she says, fourteen stone comes up, she says I'll take the thirteen and a half to allow for your shoes and clothes...
Q. Do you smoke.
A. No.
Q. Do you drink.
A. Yes.
Q. How much.
A. Oh, about three pints a day, , I'd drink more but its all I can afford,,,,,,
Q. Do you exercise.
A. Yes.
Q. How.
A. I walk to the pub.
Q. How far is that.
A. About a mile each way.
She comments, that's not very far, I reply, but I walk round the pool table all night when I get there...
A lecture followed on drinking and exercise,,, felt like asking her about her weight and exercise regime, she was wider than she was tall...
Managed to bite my tongue though, well she was going to be sticking needles in me.................
Blood taken it was a trip of the hospital for the x-ray, only about a half hour wait there, expected worse, my doctor said to phone in a week for results, x-ray people told me to give it at least ten days before phoning doctor for results, so another week or two of this shit...
Why does it take ten days, you take the x ray, someone looks at it, e-mails the doc with the results, I phone next day to find out good or bad news,,, how much these NHS guru's get paid,,, get it sorted...
