DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS Empty DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS

    Post by Guest Sun 27 Apr 2014 - 13:17

i cant believe it ,but one facebook biz page in tenerife has gone further then stating that anyone with a UK licence here has to change it for a SPANISH one
(NOT TRUE) but that ANY LICENCE ISSUED BEFORE 1/13 is not a EUROPEAN DRIVING LICENCE and needs replacing ....
TOTALLY UNTRUE ..you can use any DVLA issued licence UNTIL 2033...if is in date ...you dont need to add an NIE ,and you CAN keep the address as your last UK one ...

AND THEY HAVE AN EMAIL FROM DVLA STATING THIS ´´FACT´´  DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS 1498946960  DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS 1498946960  DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS 1498946960  DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS 1498946960  DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS 1498946960  DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS 1498946960

    http://spain.angloinfo.com/transport/driving-licences/eu-driving-licence/

    http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=786975

THIS IS THE ´´EMAIL ´´ FROM DVLA ON THEIR SITE ...notice bad grammar and nonsensical phrases

    ´´´´CLARIFICATION - DRIVING LICENCE

As there is so much controversy over this subject & we are always up to date on current legislation we decided to get further clarification, we wrote to the DVLA to get confirmation from the people in the "know". Here is the reply from the DVLA.

Thank you for your email received on 14/4/14. Your email reference number is 1928321.

Regarding your enquiry where you state that you wish to update your UK licence with a Spanish address, you would need to apply to exchange your licence to a Spanish one. This is due to the fact that we are not able to put a foreign address onto a UK licence. If your domicile is permanent in Spain, like in the UK, your documentation has to be up-to-date with the correct details. As in the UK if your documentation is not current you can be fined & this applies to Spain aswell.

As for the new Laws coming into force in 2015, these apply to all EU.

In the UK the old style non-photo Driving Licences are invalid thus invalid in EU. When travelling to non-EU countries you need to apply for a International Driving Licence.

Please enquire with the Spanish licensing authority on what you will need to do to exchange your UK licence.

    Regards

    A Rees

sorry thats my german/polish/english/russian education again ,,,,
1.any licence issued BY DVLA (not town hall) is VALID TILL IT EXPIRES ...OR THE YEAR 2033

2.no one with a UK licence need to change it to drive here EVEN IF RESIDENT dont even need to add NIE and having your LAST UK address on is 100% ok

3 IF YOU ARE RESIDENT then when your licence expires you MUST get a spanish one ..so on a photocard one 10 years i think, but an old green DVLA one it could be not until 2033 ...a french man issued a licence for life in 2012 ,will be able to keep it until 2033 ...

THE POINT IS THAT THE STATEMENT ON THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE FROM DVLA IS FAKE

TO CHANGE 500,000,000 LICENCES IN ONE YEAR !!!!! I DONT THINK SO

Thanks for that info. Having lived in the same house for 24 years I have never had to change mine for a photo one, looks like I will have to now then....

Cannot understand why the UK doesnt have ID cards either, you could put what groups of vehicles you can drive on that too, hence two birds with one stone. Even better a chip in the neck like my dogs got, wouldnt need any of that, or an expensive passport either. Thousands of British civil servants could be put out to grass too saving loads of wonga. Why am I not in charge of this Country? I bloody should be. Also I think if you sell your house you should have to pay Capital Gains tax on any increase in value, that would soon stop ludicrous house price rises in parts of the UK. See? Put me in charge and I can upset Socialists, Liberals and Tories all at the same time.  DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS 3025408739  And, just to piss off the Greens, build more fast roads instead of the stupid high speed train links. No fecker can afford the fares anyway, just for the rich then. If you want to get somewhere quick catch a plane, cheap and efficient. Plus a nice new runway at Stansted to piss off the rich NIMBYS and while we are on the subject a nice new airport within walking distance of my house please, I have to drive 70+ miles to the airport you know? Fenland International, has a nice ring to it. I might even get a job there, put me in charge of immigration.  DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS 294053457

And dont forget to vote UKIP on the 22nd of May folks, for an independent Britain.

we are lucky here in spain  ...we can vote for a real fascist party not a look alike one ...

bare in mind that brits living in spain would be treated same as say people from russia, brazil, africa, and would need a work permit ...and the visa only allows people to spend 90 days every six months in spain ..also british oaps would no longer have any access to free health care ....the result would be a move of 500,000 retired brits back home and a large drop in house prices in tourist areas ...

Brits who have a legit job would get a work permit then wouldnt they, probably no more hassle than the hoops they put you through now if you want to do it the legit way. You can only spend 6 months there anyway now unless resident so cant see that making much difference. If they want our money they will make it possible to come, personally I wouldnt recommend it to anybody, even the weathers shite a lot of the time now. Come to Tenerife and get ripped off, and keep your hands on your wallet too cos that will soon go missing, every time I go there I hear tales of woe. Sorry to say it but its really not that nice is it? And as for health care that works both ways. Our hospitals are full of people who have never paid a penny in taxes. Straight off the plane from Bangladesh or wherever and straight to hospital with TB.  DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS 1498946960

no as soon as the uk leaves the EU ,then there citizens are treated like any other country not in the EU ...nigeria,somalia,cambodia.they have NO RIGHT to have a work permit ,as they have to think of the EU citizens who want that job ...you can spend as long as you like in tenerife ,where do you get this six months from ...the rules of the BRITISH NATIONAL HEALTH is that after that time you cant get FREE BRITISH HEALTH CARE ...so the rules are british ,nothing to do with the EU .yes they want britsih holidaymakers on the two weeks ,but as for long term brits, there are plenty of counties inside the EU (500,000,000)
to fill any 1 bed apartment in one of the only places in the EU you can go in the winter ..as for the weather??? i can sunbath in my garden most of the winter,i haven't owned a winter coat since i got here ...yes if you live in a tourist area, and go to tourist bars then you do get ´´ripped off´´ .last time i was in iceland got charged €7 for a bacon sandwich and a cafe ..in my spanish area i can get a three course meal for that !!as for tales of woe ,,,well no one moans as much as the brits ...home or abroad ,,,your hospitals are not full of EU citizens they are full of people of ´´others´´ none of them will be ´´going home´´
I as a european am also hoping that you leave the eu ...then we can get on with things without you ... i will still have the ´´well off´´ brits who retire here and can afford it .. i think the germans will be ordering you a taxi ,if you vote UKIP ,,,then they have made a new germania without a bomb in site ....

TITSA is the best bus service i have even seen ...public owned clean, cheap,on time and keeps car ownership down ....and you can SMS any bus stop even on roads with no lights or electric and it tells you how many mins till next bus BRILLIANT .all buses in england are only there to make money ....

    swaziland you mean lol ..
SWITZERLAND has agreement with EU that a rump uk would not have

From the perspective of the EU , the treaties Largely Contain the same content as the EEA treaties , making Switzerland a virtual member of the EEA . Most EU law Applies universally THROUGHOUT the EU , the EEA and Switzerland, providing Most of the conditions of the free movement of people , goods , services and equity that apply to full member states . Switzerland pays into the EU budget and the bilateral treaties extended to the new EU member states, just like full members did , ''
By 2010 Switzerland had amassed around 210 trade With the EU treaties . Following the institutional changes in the EU ( Particularly Regarding Increased foreign policy and the role of the European Parliament )  the Council of the European Union Declared That there will be no further treaties on single Unless marketissues Switzerland and EU agree on a new legal framework Similar to the EEA That , Among Others , more Closely Switzerland would bind to the Evolving EU legislation
Swiss companies have access to the European single market, as long Peak Gust Comply With its rules. But who makes the rules? The European Commission - EU members only representation - makes the Proposals, que are then approved by the Council of Ministers - Representing only EU member states - and the European Parliament, ELECTED by Citizens of the EU only. Switzerland and the Swiss people have no say in the matter. Their Involvement is only to be bound by the rule

Trade Between Britain and the U.S. dealer to half of Britain's trade and 30 per cent of its GDP, Whereas That same dealer to trade one tenth of the EU's trade and only 3 per cent of its GDP. Making That weaker trade relationship would harm the UK much more than it would the EU: Britain is in no position to dictate terms.

n 6 September 2011, the Swiss Franc Effectively switched to a euro peg: the Franc had always floated its currency appreciation Independently until Became unsustainable During The Eurozone debt crisis. The peg Involves a minimum exchange rate of 1.20 francs to the euro, currently there is no upper bound in place. It is important to note That Switzerland is not officially a member of the Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II) as it is not an EU member and Expresses no ambitions to Become an EU member. However ERM II is the only mechanism for Existing Euro pegging THEREFORE Switzerland is said to be an unofficial member. The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has Committed to Maintaining the exchange rate to Ensure stability.

You are perfectly right about TITSA of course, I am a big fan and use them quite a bit. However, some better time keeping wouldnt go amiss, if they are less than 15 minutes late on GDS thats a result!

EVERY BUS HAS GPS ... i onlu lave home when i know bus is on its way ...

    Time arrivals by SMS
At any point where mobile work (from the stops, from home, work, ...) the user will know how long it takes for the arrival of the following buses to the chosen stop, allowing you to plan when approaching your stop in good time to keep the bus while avoiding unnecessary delays.

Sending an SMS to number 27286 with text: TITSA followed by a space and a No. Stop, receive our mobile an sms with the estimated time it takes to reach the next buses.
Example:. Stopping the Av.Bélgica (Multiplex) of S / C has the code 9295, if we send a SMS to 27286 with the text TITSA 9295, will receive the following sms:

    TITSA: Upcoming Departures:
    Line 901: 2 minutes
    Lin 136: 4 min
    Lin 911: 10 min
    Lin 234: 12 min
    Lin 232: 16 min
    Buen Viaje

The service costs 30 cents / sms.

I bet it dont cost 30c to a British mobile. Text out there costs me 8p (double) and I get charged if someone rings me! Still, in the morning I get a nice suntan waiting there and in the afternoon its in the shade, theres even a nice stone bench to sit on. Anyway, I have learnt how to make the buggers turn up now, just light up a fag, works a treat.  DRIVING LIICENCES - THE FACTS 3025408739
