Freddie head butts a Merc!

Yeah the car put a wheel in the ruts at the side of the road and then lost control. The road was muddy due to sugar beet being loaded in the lorry at the side of the field over the last few days. Road muddy and slippy, easy done, a moments lack of concentration. Narrow B road 60mph limit, yes Freddie was lucky he had his helmet securely on, and his neck took the impact mark which could clearly be seen on the windscreen. Bike must have flipped too because the rear mudguard was smashed. About 40 foot of scratch marks on the road before it and Freddie ended up on the grass verge. Lucky boy indeed.

Went to see Freddie this afternoon, he has some amazing bruises.    He is trying to bribe nurses with chocolates, mostly young they are. They wont let him have a ciggie though. He has two new neighbours, they aint saying much....... Trauma ward innit, most are really old. He had another operation on his knee this morning, told him to keep a careful note. Think he may end up addicted to morphine if this carries on much longer, he may be out in time for Xmas. I will treat him to a little convalesence in Tenerife as soon as hes able to crawl on a plane......

I phoned the Ward most of the ones Freddie said were old said "blimey your grandad is old"

Hes in D8, thats DATE, hes hoping for one with a nurse...........

Collected Freddie from Hospital today, he has got a nice wheelchair from the Red Cross with a rest for his right leg that sticks out in front. Quickly learning to move about on it with one hand and can get to the toilet so commode is redundant already. Keeping my eyes open for an electric wally scooter so he can get to the pub,,,,,,,,,,,,, hmmm.

yeah, tubular metal bits can bend I guess. Possibly not at walking speed though. No hills round here either, but a bit slippy in back yard. My old wooden back door has made a convenient ramp, just perfect.

Er,no,,,,,,,,,,,, the crack was I could use it for going to the pub. Been looking into these things, up to 30km at 4mph on a charge. New price about a grand but pretty sure I can get a decent 4 wheeled one for a 100 or less. Ideal for Jan but a bungalow would be nice too......... Should have thought about that young man before getting your apartment. Can take them on planes too I think but they weigh about 70 odd kilos..... Only dry cell batterys allowed too and they have to be carried in the cabin.......... And you would have to let the air out of the tyres......... Not really an option then. They do take wheelchairs free though, although Mr O'learys site doesnt make that very clear.   About 2 foot wide and 4 foot long they are, some even do 8mph.    Strangely enough about 15% of Green Park is not wheelchair friendly (6 steps) and guess what? Thats my bit. Never bothered me before but my eyes have been opened and I made my thoughts clear, easy job to put a ramp in. Probably not far enough up the to do list though. Good job we have a nice strong security man..............
