Know it well Carol ,in fact that was a choice when we chose our next break , we were offered a week there room only for a good price, including flights, but it seemed a bit secluded

Re: What are you doing today??
Mostly hygiene Carol, when we first arrived we visited a bar called the Victoria, the guy who tried to serve us was wearing over alls and was filthy, his hands left grease marks on the glasses, we walked, at dinner that evening we got our main course,4 of us chose the same thing, it was off, and I mean really off, I called our waiter who took it back only to be publicly abused by the Maitre D, well I lost it and told the M.D. to go and abuse the chef who sent the food out and not the poor waiter who was only doing his job, well you can guess I was not flavour of the month, it was the only holiday I would have left early, it was so bad

Re: What are you doing today??
just spent the morning in the motor tax office taxing ( or feckin' trying to) the new van. After waiting for 45 minutes, I then get to the counter to be told that there has been a change in the documents required and that I have to get some kind of correspondence regarding my tax self assessment.I asked whether this correspondence required confirmation that my tax affairs were up to date? No, she replied, anything at all saying anything about my self assessment or tax returns. "Thats ridiculous" I said, " I could just give to the covering letter that I got with the self assessment booklet saying "please find enclosed a self assessment booklet"!!! Thats correct, she says. Anyway, I came home and cant find the feckin' covering letter that came with the booklet so I spent 25 minutes on the phone to Revenue only to be told that they cannot type out a letter saying that my tax returns were being assessed as we speak and that I would have to wait for the correspondence saying they are happy ( or unhappy) with my returns. That will take 4 to 6 weeks so in the meantime, what am I meant to do? What happens if I get stopped by the cops with no feckin' tax on the van?? I had to go back into the motor tax office, queue for another 45 minutes and get the lady to stamp a slip of paper where she wrote down the reason for being unable to tax the van today. I'm blaming Brussels on all this

Re: What are you doing today??
Its feckin' nuts. AND self employed people can't tax their vehicles online, they have to physically present themselves in the office. I've had to take a day off for all this shite. Ordinary PAYE workers can do everything online. We, the feckin' business people, on whose backs, the whole economy is balanced lose a days pay!!! We are the very ones those kents should be bending over backwards to help. Kents On the other hand, there is a huge backlash against EU over here regarding the 19 billion that Apple apparently owe the taxman here. EU says it was anti competitive. They are only doing it cos we wouldn't allow them to alter our corporation tax. The EU commission has been told to keep their hooter out of our tax affairs. I think there has been a line drawn in the sand and for the first time, our ministers are standing up for the country.Mcqueen wrote:Why you live there i dont know I thought spanish red tape was bad

Re: What are you doing today??
My van just passed its MOT so English taxman will be happy and £235 better off today. Freddies failed. Only 11 items, none dangerous in my opinion yet the same inspector passed my van thats pulls to the left when braking. Madness.
