Going to Lanzarote
We were so pissed off after our hols this year, that 3 days aftercoming home, we booked 2 weeks in Playa Blanca next August. Got ( what seems to be ) a lovely 2 bed villa with private pool and air con for £780. Elle lives near there so I might meet up with her at some stage. Will return to Tenerife only if we can get our old apartment in the Balcon de Los Gigantes,or if someone here can recommend another place. Might even try PdlA or Los Cris in future because I was very impressed with how clean and tidy it was ( compared to 15 years ago).

Re: Going to Lanzarote
Not surprised you chose somewhere else D. The airlines are taking the piss at the moment, I just wanna rent the seat for 4 hours not buy the friggin thing. Seeing as Richard Bransons lost half his trainset maybe he might consider some Canarian routes for a change. VirginEurope innit. Give that O'Leary a run for his money. Employ trolley dollies with English as a first language and a smile......

Re: Going to Lanzarote
Good idea Vince. I'll write to Richard asking him to open a few new routes. O'Leary has launched a bid for Aer Lingus over here. It seems he wants their trans Atlantic slots from Heathrow. We could soon have a Ryanair Atlantic. Wonder how much he'll charge for baggage then?????

Re: Going to Lanzarote
Thanks Blyth, was there in 1999. Most relaxing holiday I ever had ( no kids then). Looking forward to it. Playa Blanca and the Rubicon Marina are meant to be stunning.

Re: Going to Lanzarote
Very cheap when I went, we booked flights and accommodation separate and the airline went bust. Paid it on credit card who refunded the whole lot but the accommodation still stood, so just booked new flights, thus accommodation ended up free.

Re: Going to Lanzarote
Over the last few years I have had some really bad experiences in Tenerife with weather, especially about 4 years ago I think at New Year time it was cold / wet and cauld we almost came home early, thats why we are trying a wee bit earlier in the year, people used to post on TF asking when I was going over so they could avoid my datessearcher wrote:We took our family to Costa Calero for our 50th wedding anniversary last xmas , it was the coldest we have ever experienced in the Canaries ever, my eldest daughter had her fleece on all week

Re: Going to Lanzarote
We used to stay in GDS for 6-8 weeks every january but it was getting so cold and windy we changed to 3-4 weeks in Los Cristianos instead , this year was very cold for quite a few days during our stay , cold I can get here anytime.

The sand is normal colour there. Enjoy, you will have plenty of elbow room for swinging a pint..
