I've just booked a break to Lanzagroti for next year - needed to use up a banked timeshare week and as I can get both of us and the car there for around €100 return it seemed worthwhile.

We stopped for lunch in Yaiza one of the days Bill. Very pretty. Wouldn't go back to Playa Blanca though, unless I was within a 10 min walk of the town centre. We were overlooking that hotel you stayed in before, the Gran Castillo and a lot of the nights we went to the sports bar in the shopping complex next door. The other alternative was going into Playa Blanca, a 50 min walk, or just to the marina ( 25 min walk, longer with the 4 year old) where it was very quiet. Even if we drove in at night and got a taxi home, I still had to walk in to collect the car the next day. The novelty soon wore off!

Sounds a cracking bargin that Gypsy, couldn't get far in the UK for £100 these days !.

We love Lanzarote so unspoilt in places, Tiguise is lovely and Costa Tiguise is a nice resort. Mind Pd Carmen isn't bad some canny areas such as old town/harbour.

The place I have booked is in Playa de Carmen but having the car means we aren't stuck anywhere if we don´t like it and can get to anything that is worth seeing. Told the kids so already have 2 extras!!

Watched a guy on one of them things (the paddle board, first picture) one day, he appeared from the Las Americas end heading past the mouth of Los Cris harbour, he must have been about a hundred yards out from harbour mouth, don't know where he was heading, but his journey came to an abrupt stop, he chose the wrong time to pass the harbour mouth, the Guardia Civil boat was just pulling out, boat pulled up close to him, could not hear what was being said, but going by the hand actions of the Guardia they looked far from happy, Guardia carry on with their journey, twat on paddle board changes direction and heads in to beach.
Never tried them paddle boards, think the clues in the title, boring...

The skipper should be stripped for it, not unlawful or at the look of it dangerous, but that is if no incident, a tug sudenly banged the side and some of the load shifted then trouble.

You could still get enough water to start pulling it down, inner doors will slow the process down but not stop it. The risk with the calm sea though is very small and if about to miss the tide so need to get a shift on then probably a risk that is taken with care.

Tides? Range in Tenerife is about 1m neaps to about 2m springs. Hardly gonna affect that fecker is it? I suspect it leaves the same time every day anyway.
When you used to work on the ships did they give you a box to stand on so you could see over the edge? "Tanner, are we up against the dock yet?" "Hang on Cap'n, I'll just get my box".

Didn't just mean when leaving Tenerife, a general comment. Fine sailor you are Vince, you know when hard against dock because you get a huge bump, rubbing of fenders then the engine cuts out.

Two nice dents on my port side, end of the pontoon it was, sharp and un-yeilding. Fenders were on the other side. Lanzarote 3025408739

    Fenders...
Chartered a yacht up Windermere, got down to the Newby Bridge end, moored it on a buoy for the night indicated by the red X, got in dingy we were towing behind us and headed off to the nearest pub for the night, left dingy in some bushes where red dot is on picture. Return to dingy, its pissing down with rain, pitch black, and we’ve had a few, we had a torch with us so off we set in search of our accommodation (the boat), knew it had blue fenders, fu#ked if we could see a boat with blue fenders, there we are rowing up and down the lake looking for it, got to say, when its pitch black, pissing down and your half cut, all white yachts look the same, anybody watching from the shore would have thought we were up to no good as we went in and out between the boats looking for the one with the blue fenders, eventually we found it,,, fu#king thing had blue fenders on the starboard side and white on the port, we’d rowed past it umpteen times but on the wrong side...
