I have a slightly different view on this,,,,,,,well feck me theres a surprise No, seriously, they are gonna take the money off people with SAVINGS. ie: Bods who have so much money they dont know how to spend it! Hmmmm, I could mention Russians who own 40% of said money but that might be construed as racist....Guess this, IMO refreshingly sensible plan, will probably go belly up....

If that was so Mince I would agree but the ones that should be taxed will have all the money illegally stashed, as they do in the UK.
People have massive mansions and have earned millions, they die and their estate is worth 123k, yeah right.

I'd agree with Vince if it was just the oiligarchs and multi millionaires who got taxed but they are intending to tax everyone including those retired whose life savings are in these accounts. Also, a lot of Cypriots spend their lives saving to educate their kids ( no free educational system after 2nd level). Some of these people have taken loans out and put the money in their kids names to fund them over 4 years. This will get hit as well. ( also a load of ex-pats living there will have their savings taxed.

Just been on the radio, it don’t look like the vote is going to happen today, the politicians have all fallen out over the issue, plus the UK military is flying out £1 million Euros for armed forces staff based there (get a few beers with that), plus a local guy took matters in to his own hands when his bank failed to open, he ram raided it with a JCB to get his own money...

Banker used to be a slang tem for wanker.
Wanker is now a real term for banker.

What they don,t tell you is that while all bank customers throughout europe have been getting next to nothing in interest on their bank accounts the good people of Cyprus have been pocketing up to 6% on their accounts for ages now, and that the tax threshhold is almost£ 20,000 before they pay tax

I've said it before and I'll say it again, let the ECB act as a central bank not just an overseer of anti-inflation policies. The ECB should buy a stafe , at hugely over the market prices in every troubled bank in Europe ( including RBS etc). The ECB should then sell back its stake in these banks 20 or 30 years down the line and get it's money back that way. All we are doing now is propping up a failed business model.

The Russians are fast taking over Tenerife, thats where all the new money is.
Followed one of these off the M11 the other day, a Skoda 1000MB, stuffed to overflowing with foreigners it was. Long time since I have seen an old Skoda. From the 1960s it is.

Thick matress is what you need hehehe.
The world is upside down now, no one is making any money its such a shame. When will it end, they say these things come round every 10 years but Im thinking maybe I will never see this end in my lifetime.

Now talking about converting “40%” of peoples savings in to Bank Shares, to apply to savers with over 100,000 euros...
Irrespective of how the money got in to the banks, its still wrong...
