Re: What are you doing today??
The actual company is the same one I used last time Vince. They have an excess of £1500 and a charge for a half full tank of petrol. Fair enough they are making at least 50% profit on the fuel but I can leave it back empty. They also have a 100 mile a day limit and charge 15p per mile over that but I wont be doing that kind of mileage. I already have excess car hire insurance. The car is costing @ 12 pound a day. The bus from the airport and another one to the apartment would cost 15 pound each way anyway.

Dermo, sussed out that back street pub, it's called the "Jolly Angler", its on Ducie Street, that's right behind the Staycity apartments... It's got a Facebook page, dropped in last night for a couple on way to meet mates, interesting is the word I'd use,,, its done up in the same style as the Angel which I would call allergic to new paint,,, real bunch of interesting friendly people at the bar (hence two pints), would seem a bunch of guys come in and do a bit of a session most Tuesday and Sunday nights so will sus that out, there were also three guitars just lying around the place for anyone to just pick up and play, also a couple of comedians frequent the place, their names meant nothing to me but seemly they occasionally just do a random set...
So it's looking like you may have inadvertently put me on to somewhere that suits the needs...
Oh, they also sell beer...

sounds not to bad. I think we will be3 looking to go to a pub somewhere close to the apartments in case the kids start to panic. .Adam Mint wrote:3rdforum wrote:Thanks Minty. Re: What are you doing today??
Took me 2 feckin' hours to get the seats back in . I need to find more edging angle to tidy it up a bit more. Very happy with the carpet. Was ripple free by the time I was finished.

the first few pictures were from when I was after crawling out from under the van and was too stiff to stand up immediately, so I took a few photos of the sky

Re: What are you doing today??
Just a pedestrian lane with a couple of good pubs and a very good restaurant by all accounts( never in it). The lane would have some of the oldest buildings in the city. Nice to stroll down, but the whole city centre is pedestrian friendly ( and very safe )

Re: What are you doing today??
There are some there, a lot more on Shop St, a table manned by greenpeace types, another table with 2 lads spouting the virtues of islam. Never saw one person stopping at either table. Was of bloody time. There is only one mosque in the whole country. Those tree huggers sicken my arse. Start worrying about the abused kids first ffs!

Re: What are you doing today??
You'll be spoilt for choice with musicians everywhere. Galway is the music capital of Ireland. Everything from blues to jazz, traditional to folk, metal to hip hop. Keep an ear out and pop in wherever you hear something that you like. More often than not, there isn't even a cover charge though for the bigger acts, there might be. Keep an eye on this site. I think it updates every month

All the Heathrow to New York/Boston flights go over us. I once counted 11 jets in the sky at one time.
