Just back home from baby-sitting wee Brodie while his mum was out for a meal cooked by her hubby at cook school.

Re: What are you doing today??
Went to Skegness today. It was the final attempt to try to get the engine to start on the boat I have there before it gets broken for scrap if it doesnt start. I am getting well pissed off with the 2 hour drive there and not having the right gear with me etc etc and batterys will only turn it over so long and theres no electric, and I cant park closer to it with the van less than about 100m so its a right ballache. Plus I can only try to start it when theres enough water in the creek for the engine to suck up coolant, average about 3 days every fortnight in daylight during the afternoon. Anyway its got a slight reprieve, It took me two hours to get one of the injector pipes to screw on, I have had it all to bits and this one had got cross threaded. By then it was getting a bit dark so being in a generally pissed off mood anyway decided to piss off home and give it another go in a couple of weeks weather permitting, 10+ degrees please Mr God. Yesterday was a bad day too. Young Freddie has been using the classic Panda to go to work and he rang up saying it had broke down. He said the heating wasnt working and the the oil light came on. Anyway at that point he turned it off and rang up for help. I was still in bed as this was half five in the morning so Mummy picked him up. Later that afternoon we went to rescue it and I poured some water in the rad and tried to start it. Well, never seen anything like it in my life. As it was turning over it was literally chucking water out the rad filler cap about a foot in the air! Hmmm, catastrophic head gasket failure is my diagnosis. Indeed the engine has now locked up which tells me water has filled up a cylinder. Anyway, all is not lost. Had a look on the ebay and I can get a full head gasket set for a tenner delivered and according to the fiat forum its about the easiest job in the World. Cost me £600 to get Patsys head gasket done on her Skoda Octavia diesel a couple of years back but this little simple fecker I can do myself.

Re: What are you doing today??
Last time over I drove from Gatwick to Bedale leaving at 7 pm and arrived St 3 am, lovely start then the M1 closures diversions and traffic calming, the a1m was closed in two places last being 20 miles off Bedale but they blocked other routes sending two way four lanes of motorway traffic through villages

Re: What are you doing today??
I was looking at the Groupon offers in my e-mails and saw a nice pair of sheepskin lined slippers for Mermaid from £14.98. "From" being the operative word. She wanted purple size 5... £21.95 + £2.99 P&P. Needless to say, she'll have to look for something else.

Re: What are you doing today??
It was the £14.95 that caught my eye in the first place...If it had said £25 for a pair of slippers I would have scrolled right past!

Re: What are you doing today??
Today I set about doing head gasket on Panda, piss easy job but snapped 4 bolts. Two cam cover ones both on the front and two exhaust manifold ones, both top centre. Looks like Mr Fiat buys bolts from China.

Re: What are you doing today??
Had Hazels family round with a thank you card and some flowers,
how come Janet gets flowers and i get a mention in a card WTF
The eldest wants the house so he would have to buy the other 3 out, recipe for disaster
Being a delicate subject i told the eldest to put me down for second choice, need to protect my borders, Again
