Got the decorations down out of the attic. I'm looking at them here in the corner. Think they will be staying there until tomorrow.

Re: What are you doing today??
Got back last night from my trip abroad to Glasgow. I now have a Scottish fiver. Doubt they will accept it here in Fenland so its probably a long term tennant in my wallet. Its blue same as the lager hence the spelling............. Had a good tail wind going up in the van which helped, until I got to the A66 across the Pennines anyway. Said on the radio it was closed to high sided vehicles, jeez it fecking blows up there! Stopped that night in Hamilton services, watched cops watching me, or summat for 2 hours. Maybe they had a big McDonalds which was the only thing there, and a hotel with beds for 25 quid. They were refurbing the petrol pumps so if you were short on gas, tough. Left in the morning for the 15 mile trip to Glasgow, cones pretty much the whole way and sat nav decided it wasnt playing ball even though it had happilly directed me thus far but luckily I had the route written on a bit of paper old skool like so no probs. Where I went was about 2 miles north of the city almost directly off the M8 so didnt see much of Glasgow but what did strike me was the peeps all live in tenement blocks. I'm not talking old fashioned type ones from the 1800s these look quite new. So what is it about the Scotsman that he chooses to live in a shoe box? No shortage of land there although it looked more like waste ground as opposed to parkland. Did spot a few houses but these appeared to be made from pre-fab concrete? Hmmm, if I lived in Scotland I think I would build a house from polystyrene blocks so it was nice and warm. The peeps I collected the van from were deffo not locals, you could tell by the sun tan. It was a back street garage which appeared to deal mostly in second hand tyres to the local taxi drivers, indeed they even had one turn up whilst I was there. I probably doubled their weekly turnover but did I get a cuppa? Nah. No help connecting the a-frame either. He counted the £20 notes I gave him (English ones obviously) 3 fecking times and then wrote down the serial numbers of two he wasnt that happy with and asked if I had any others. No mate just filled the van up at the petrol station round the corner, that bit was true anyway. I just hope the bank rejects them, serve him right for not being honest in the ad. Took photos of the good side and said it was a 1989 but was in fact an 85. Not that that makes a blind bit of difference on an antique VW, get free road tax 4 years sooner ffs! Drove back in the Scottish bit in daylight but didnt seem that nice. Pennines bit on A66 was nice though, not blowing a gale on Thursday! Spotted a bit of snow on the hilltops, reminded me of Teide. One hill in particular I was down to second gear, 20mph flat out. Annoyed some lorry drivers a couple of which showed their appreciation via their horns and hazard lights. No fellas, you dont own the road in your turbo charged lorries even though thats how you make your living. They should thank their lucky stars they dont live in Tenerife and have to follow those seriously underpowered Mercedes and Ebro lorries up the hills.
I always name my special vehicles going as much as possible on the number plate, this ones called Bart. Basket case would fit equally well. But its a VW.

Mermaid is wrapping Christmas presents and I'm doing the more impotant job of taking all the car CDs out of their jewel cases and putting them in a wee zipper case thingy. I had no room in my side door pockets for anything else!
