Yep. Either pay the council unless we get it to the recycling centre ourselves or get the delivery man to take it away.

Re: What are you doing today??
I think they added a 2 euro recycling charge to all appliances over "X" euro a few years ago to cover the cost. Now, it's just incorporated into the price. One of the few good ideas the muppets in power had. The smoking ban in workplaces was another one. And the plastic bag levy. The streets and countryside are so much cleaner

Rubbish,,, a bit of an issue in Manchester at the moment, not on bulky items, if you call the council they will collect three large a year from you,,, the issue at the moment is "black general waste bins", I ain't involved cos I live in an apartment and it a communal waste bin, in general most houses have a black bin for general waste, blue for glass I think, brown, paper and green garden/food waste,,, bins were standard 240 litre size, but council decides to reduce them to 140 litre, spent about 2 million doing it...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
And what's happened since...
People are leaving bin bags at stret litter bins to the extent they surround the litter bin by six feet or more, so what are the council doing,,, removing the street litter bins,, so what's joe public doing...
a,,, just leaving black bin bags anywhere in the street...
b,,, putting black general waste bins in the bottom of carboard, glass etc waste bins then covering it with said product...
When the policy was put forward I predicted what would happen, and it has,,, arseholes...

Re: What are you doing today??
What did they do with all the old 240lt bins then. Bin 'em? Mad sods. Our lot are making us pay £40 if we want a brown bin from April. Thats the one for garden rubbish etc. I predict an increase in fly tipping, or shrubs overhanging pavements forcing pensioners and kids to walk in the roadway. My Jacks a bin man, loves the job. When he first started there they gave him a nickname.... Roadkill.

Re: What are you doing today??
New bins also have some electronic tag in them, council say cos they can trace bin if someone nicks it,,, synics say is cos they will be able to track what's in the bin,,, I say rubbish...

Yeah, bin theft is rife in towns. Someones nicked mine so I will go and take someone elses. You know when you are in the rough bit of town, house numbers painted on the bins.
