Anytime I do a job in an estate, particularly one with a lot of pensioners living there, I do the very first job at half price. today, I finished painting a big sitting room that had bad cracks in the ceiling. Had to do repairs, then paint ceiling, walls and skirting with one wall a different colour. this is a pain, because I have to wait until the other three walls are fully done and fully dry, before I can tape a line in the corners to do the odd wall. Anyway, i thought I would get it done in two days so I charged 120 euro (half price and cash in hand) ( took 3 days). The feckin' ceiling fought me tooth and nail. I had to put on a skim coat of plaster ( first time attempting it). Took be 6/7 hours of filling sanding and eventually skimming. The result was a pristine ceiling. I then had a row with the couple that owned the house. They wanted to pay me 300 euro. I eventually took 150, but I've got a hell of a lot of goodwill, so , hopefully, word of mouth will spread. Tbh, I was feckin' delighted with myself, that i managed to do such a good job. So, lesson of the day, always have a bit of pride in what you do, otherwise don't bother your blox, cos you'll only do a half arsed job
