Re: The doctors surgery
Back from hospital. All gowned up ready, had the blood pressure, temperature, oxygen levels checked and male nurse says "put your clothes back on, Doc wants a word". They'd got my urine test results back from last Friday and he said there were a lot of white cells in it. "We have 2 choices" he says, "we can go ahead with the Cystoscopy, which could make it worse and could also give me false readings and giving you an operation you don't need, or we can wait until you've finished the course of antibiotics and call you in again in a week or two." Err...we'll wait until I've finished the course I said. How the feck was that a choice?

Would seem she had got her letter giving her the 08:45 appointment but there was nothing on the hospital system about it so they were not expecting her (there was another woman with same issue also waiting), transpired that when the girl was informed of cockup when she arrived at 08:30 she was told to wait and they'd see if they could fit her in (nothing certain that they would),,, obviously after waiting two hours she was getting a bit wound up about it, that's when she approached the reception to enquire as to what was happening, receptionist just tells her again we'll try and fit you in, girl ain't happy with this and wants to know a time when she'll be seen, receptionists says she can't give her a time, girl ain't happy with this and is demanding to see someone who can tell her what's happening, another member of staff turns up but conversation is just going round in circles with the same being said over and over again,,, by chance the doctor she is meant to be seeing turns up at the reception desk looking for some paperwork, the receptionist explains situation to him (note, so until this point he is unaware there are two people in the waiting room expecting to see him that are not on his list,,, when was the receptionist actually going to do anything about it, Thursday ???), anyway doctor says give her another appointment date,,, girl ain't happy with this, explains she's taken the day off work, arranged for someone to look after her kid for the morning, etc, etc,,, doctor say it would be unfair to expect other patients appointment times to be disrupted to accomidation her,,, girl points out she has an appointment letter exactly the same as the other patients so what's the difference,,, look on the quacks face, he didn't like that one,,, he says to here to wait and that she would be seen, she asks when, he said he don't know, she explains that her baby sitter probably thinks she is on the way home now as appointment letter says allow a hour to a hour and a half for appointment, she pushes the doc for a time saying this morning or am I still going to be here at three o'clock this afternoon,,, he says this morning,,, she was taken about fifteen minutes later... 10/10 to her, if she had not gone up to the reception desk she would have still been sitting there as to me the receptionist was doing feck all about it, probably just hoping someone ain't gonna show then slip her in to that slot...
Oh, my appointment was 30 minutes late, nothing to do with her issue, wasn't seeing that doctor, but wait passed ok due to entertainment...Adam Mint wrote:Got a letter from the hospital today relating to the pre-op for my forthcoming knee operation, letter reads as follows:-
Dear Mr Minty
At your recent pre-op for the forthcoming operation on your left knee the weekly alcohol intake you stated you consume relates to 32 units, this is above the national guidelines on alcohol intake, it is therefore our policy to inform your GP of this and advise you contact her to discuss the issue.
Yours etc...
My reply to both the hospital and my GP:-
At least I'm sober enough to know it's my "RIGHT KNEE" that's f####d, and I ask that you confirm in writing that on the day of the operation you will be carrying out the surgery on the right one, that's the "RIGHT" one.
Yours etc...
What a feckin bunch of wankers...
Adam Mint wrote:I have had my knee x-rayed, had it MRI scanned, seen the consultant who will be carrying out the operation twice and at each stage of this process the first thing I am asked to do is confirm my name, date of birth and full postal address which is let's say :-
Mr A Minty
21 Brewers Court
Dray Street
Manchester
M1 4DT
And how is said letter addressed:-
Mr A Minty
Brewers Court
City Centre
Manchester
Feckin wankers can't even get that right...
Got a phone call this morning 09.30, its the hospital, conversation goes:-
There's been a cancellation can you come for your operation tomorrow.
Yip.
I need to ask you some questions.
OK
Have you got a cold.
No
Are you taking antibiotics.
I discussed this with the nurse at the pre-op, she knows I was on antibiotics back then and was going to discuss it with the doctor as it only gave a short window for the operation to happen given the six week break from coming off the antibiotics to the six week break after the operation pre being able to fly as I have a holiday booked mid March, I've been been off the antibiotics four and a half weeks now.
Oh, Its on your records about flying hence we're trying to get you in early, but there is nothing about you being on antibiotics, I need to discuss it with the nurse, I'll phone you back asap.
(Hour and a half later no call so I phone them).
Oh, I'll chase her up she's not got back to me. (I recon she hadn't even spoke to anyone)
(Another hour and a half I get a call)
We cant carry out the operation the doctors not happy with your blood test results, you need to contact your own GP and have the blood tests done again........................
Total fu#k up, nothing on my records about me being on antibiotics, nothing about the operation not happening in letter I got from them telling me I drank over the recommended amount of alcohol per week,,, when were they going to tell me they were not going to carry out the operation ???
Nurse carrying out the pre-op never ever discussed anything with the doctor until this morning I recon......
Oh, and I got it confirmed they do actually know what legs fecked...
Wankers...
Spoke with my GP today, before I even got to the end of the scenario she says "I'm looking at your blood tests results and there's nothing there to warrant cancelling the operation, sounds like someone's screwed up",,, my thoughts exactly...
Been told to write to the to the consultant explaining situation and to cc her a copy, if response is not positive she will get involved...
Fight...

Re: The doctors surgery
.
Thursday after quiz we just get home twelvish, Annie's phone goes, it's her dads care home, they've phoned an ambulance to take him to hospital, he'd been being sick Tuesday Wednesday but had seemed better Thursday, but he had started being sick again so they've phoned an ambulance, at this stage they don't know which hospital in Manchester he'll be taken to.
Two o'clock we get a phone call from North Manchester Hospital, doctors asking Annie about what medication he's on and past medical history (medical records ???), we don't over react cos he's been in and out of hospital so often over past year, but can't get to sleep.
Four AM phone goes again, you'd better get here if he has cardiac arrest we ain't going to resuscitate !!!
Taxi to hospital as we'd both had a drink at the quiz, he's lying on a bed, he ain't being given any medication...
Seven AM I get a taxi home get car and go pick up Annie's sister from hospital she's in...
We sit hospital all day with various members of Annie's family dropping in, five PM they move him from A&E to a ward.
Sevenish there's no change so we decide to leave, situations the same, Annie's at hospital now but her dad won't even know she's there...
All a mater of time now me thinks.

Re: The doctors surgery
On the back of my original post re Annie's dad, when we left the hospital yesterday we were both starving, we'd only had a couple of sandwiches since 4am, and it was eightish, so we went for something to eat, Annie was heading home as a lot of family and friends (all female) were meeting her place just waiting for news, I say drop me Angel, Dermo knows what I mean, Oh, Annie's dad wouldn't mind, bit of a character he is, a joiner, artist and a poet, draws a picture of barmaid, writes a poem over it and frames it, then gives to barmaid, he's had a good few free pints and maybe more out of that one,,, bit time back were in Angel, Gary my musical mate plays a medley of Irish songs Hughie Annie's dad gets the mouthy out and joins in,,, good times, so anyway Annie drops me Angel, there are four girls sitting opposite us, us being my mates and black Dave who Dermo didn't meet, we call him black Dave as it would be inappropriate to call him fat Dave,,, one of the girls is good on the gutar and singing some good stuff, Gary gets in to a dulling banjo competition with her, it was song after song,,, I phone Annie back of midnight for a catch up, all her friends and family have gone and she's in bed, crying,,, I say get a taxi here, she says no, I say I'm sending taxi, if your dad was able he'd be here to, she came down,,, enjoy life, your only here once................................

Re: The doctors surgery
They've now said he hasn't had a stroke, they've had him on fluid and painkiller drips since he went in, I didn't know that they had also started giving him antibiotics for more infections, but have said yesterday they don't think they were doing any good, they are going to review situation today and if he is not responding to them stop the medication, Annie's on here way there now, trying to get info over the phone is impossible despite Annie being given the direct line number to the ward no one answers...

Re: The doctors surgery
Annie went hospital straight from work, she's just text me this, "He's sat up asking for whisky and sausages ???"
He's been layed out flat on his back for a week now looking like a skeleton, no food other than the liquid drip, virtually unable to speak initially, then stopped speaking all together, then last two/three days has not woken up at all, then this today...
We've all just been sitting waiting on the call to say he's dead...

Or taking the pish...
No he was in a very poorly state before being admitted, he will defiantly be in a worse condition after this current stint in hospital if he pulls through...

sorry Adam but that just made me laugh, "He's sat up asking for whisky and sausages ???". He is not giving up yet. It must be hard for Annie visiting.Adam Mint wrote:Annie went hospital straight from work, she's just text me this, "He's sat up asking for whisky and sausages ???"
