Ah small world!! Gosport - now that's where I grew up. I was a Bridgemary lass from age 5 until 17. Mum and Dad lived there until a couple of years ago when she had a nasty accident. They now have a bungalow in Fareham... which suits her much better.

I moved out here from Southsea... but lived in Gopsort, Fareham, Southampton (a few places) and Southsea.

    So... Dolphin? Daedalus? Collingwood?

Yeah, they'd built Gunwharf before I moved out... and the tower had just opened, at great expense to the tax payer... and then they offered us a measly £1 off if we wanted to go up! I didn't bother - but then I'm not good with heights really.

Got engaged at the Tapas place in Gunwharf though... and had many a night out in Tiger Tiger.

They should have done more with Gunwharf, as for the Spinnaker, does not appeal and never seen anyone go up it.

My other half escorted his sons up there, and I know a couple of friends who went. Just not for me.

I do quite like Gunwharf - more so than Port Solent.

But the Marina Rubicon here suits me better. I've happily swapped the designer outlets and multiplex for a plate of puntillas and a glass or 2 of Bermejo. Oh, and it's only a 10 minute stroll from home - good zigzag distance.

LOL - well... okay... 10 minutes stroll there (whilst still sober). I'd only ever get a taxi back! Too risky to walk across the field in the pitch black... barefoot because my shoes have crippled me... or because I've broken a flipflop dancing on the tables or something
