That 0.8 mile link started nearly two and a half years ago ain't expected to be finished till 2017,,, they built a railway across Americe in ten years and it's gonna take Metrolink three years to lay 0.8 miles of track...



And the Eccles line that opened sixteen years ago is worn out, repairs schedule till August,,, they had to relay the tracks through part of the city centre a few years back, work was scheduled to take a few months, went on for over two years, city centre traffic absolute chaos through out the repairs...

And they say it's the future, no it ain't...

I just use my wee car. Never been in a bus, tram or train for years...

How do you get into Edinburgh then? Parking there costs a feckin fortune!

Never go to Edinburgh much. Last time I stayed in a B&B there, we parked car up in a cheap underground carpark for 3 days and walked everywhere!

Few months back they brought the system to a halt, again "communins problems", trams stopped where they they were, people stuck in them for about two hours,,,, why, real train system says procedure as far as you can see at an approtve speed, but not in Manchesters state of the art system, says no, fu#k the public up...

Personally I think there was more going on, two, and you never see it, cop helicopters over city centre all day, think it was a case of don't get people in here..., big city centre pub we watched football in was empty...

It's crazy, like I say the last time the system came to a stop due to "communication issues" the trams came to a stop where the were, people stuck on them for hours, some were only yards from the platforms, on one tram on a section of old railway line outside the city centre the people on it after an hour and a half or so opened the doors using the emergency system and scrambled up the railway embankment and on to the road to get a bus...

Couple of years back I was on a train heading back down from Scotland, it was new year time and the weather had been horrendous, a couple of days before I was due to travel they cancelled all train services in Scotland it was that bad, train I'm on comes to a stop in the middle of nowhere, sat for about 15 minutes or so then started moving very slow, guard announces over the intercom that there's signalling problems and that we are progressing slow as the driver can only go to a speed he can safely see to stop in,,, makes sense, better than sitting going nowhere, after about 15 minutes of that we were back up to full speed again...

Take the trams in Blackpool, they are just driven on a vision only basis,,, why when something goes tits up in the Manchester system does it have to come to a halt, even I'd it's just moving to the next platform to let people off...

Don't know if I've ever mentioned it but I ain't to keen on trams...

Many years back Im down Granron harbour, railway lines zig zagged all over the place, bicture below shows a bit where some railway lines are still sunk in to the road, I'm on a motorbike my mates on a scooter, I shout to him "you'd better watch them small wheels don't catch on the tracks",,, next thing "Splat",,, I hit the deck.......... I came off just past where them gates are now...
