OK Searcher, if they had come knocking your door asking for two and a half grand per scull, yip that's what's its cost each resident of Edinburgh, would you have put your hand in your pocket...

Thought it was going to be about the £144m they are going to spend extending the Edinburgh tram line three miles to Newhaven...
Can't get the BBC link to work...
Feckin mental, robbing money from a functioning bus service to pay for a vanity protect that is as useful as a chocolate teapot...

Just watched a report on it in on the local news report, feckin joke, health and safety/nanny state management,,, communication/signling computer went tits up, somehow they message all drivers to stop immediatly,,, then the trams sat there where they came to a stop for hours with people trapped on them (trams don't have toilets),,, one passenger being interviewed said after a hour and a half they operated the emergency door opening system and scrambled up a banking to a road and caught a bus...
Not last new year but the previous one I'm up Scotland, weather was horrendus and a couple of days before I was due to travel back south all train services were cancelled, on my day of travel there were still issues but my route was running, I'm doing Inverkithing to Edinburgh then Glasgow and finally Manchester, between Edinburgh and Glasgow train comes to a stop in the middle of nowhere, we sit for about fifteen minutes then start moving very slow,,, guard comes over tannoy saying there are signaling problems due to the weather and the driver can only proceed at a speed he can safely stop in for the distance he can see ahead...
So why not get the trams to the stops using that system, going by the pictures on the TV some of the trams were only yards from platfofms...
We've lost the plot,,, it's the same when they shut roads for hours after an accident...

Yip, it uses a lot of old railway lines and platforms when it leaves the city centre, therefore trams are the size of trains,,, but seemingly it's the future...

On the subject of trams/trains,,, the other weekend there when we done the train ale trail thing we all met at Victoris Station, I got the tram there, yes Searcher I got on a feckin tram, slow outdated noisy pieces if shit that they are but it made sence, one if the few tram stops is just a few minutes from Annie's and it takes you right in to Victoria...
Now this was the first time I'd been in Victoria Station since its recent refurbish,,, few years back they done up Piccadilly Station, made a good job of it, put in loads of resturants, bars and shops surrounding the concourse and sealed the concorse of from the platforms with glass paneling and automatic sliding doors, the whole concourse area is sealed off and heated as all the bars/restaurants are open plan,,, Victoria, they have put a modern glass/plastic roof over some parts of an old victorian building and that's about it, a feckin eyesore...
Ah, but the bit I did like, at all the enterances they have put automatic glass doors, doors are hard worked opening and shutting constantly due to the continual flow of people, and the best bit,,, what is right next to these doors, a fecking huge opening the size of a building to allow the trains and trams to get in and out,,, what a feckin waste of money...

This is an artists impressions of it, if you look to the left of the picture, roughly where the tram is, there are passenger entrances with automatic doors, and right next to in a gap big enough to allow four tram lines access...

Everywhere did in Britan except Blackpool, now the loonies are spending millions or 1.2 billion in Edinburghs case to put in a half hearted "tram line" not a system...
