Son Luke is working in Wales he's a groundworker but smarter than your average navvy,
So he gets to do the setting out etc, now the only thing thats important to him is Lexie,
so they all pile round to ours on a weekend, Lexie's mother is a council estate chav and i wouldnt piss on her if she was on fire, but i look after her and the other child she has and i keep my mouth shut to keep the piece, last Friday she turned up with her sister (In the car i gave her) to bring Janet a thank you card and a small gift, Janet was her usual nice as pie and i thought all was well in the world, Come sunday tea time Lexie has to be home for 6 or the brown hits the fan. yesterday at 5 Lexie locks herself in Janets walk in wardrobe and says she dosent want to go home, So i rang Lexie's auntie and said can you come and get Lex because she wont shift,  answer is "I cant drive because i'm still pissed from last night" this is what my lovely grandaughter has to live with, she said just drag her out and bring her yourself, So Luke then man handles her to my car and off we went, 30 minutes later abuse down the phone saying she is getting the police because Lexie is covered in bruises, i remind her lexie go's to gymnastics and is always covered in bruises, No good she is informing the school that her father beats her on a weekend, the school will act over the top because they dont want the blame if they dont do anything, So no doubt the police will show up today sometime,
Luke will have it on his mind all week, Janet and myself didnt sleep much, her mother will drink herself to sleep and still be in bed, Lexie gets herself dressed , that can mean ironing her uniform getting her packed lunch together and getting herself to school, and getting good marks in all subjects, WTF can i do, Nada
Oh 2 weeks ago her mother informs me they had been burgled and the man was in Lexi's room
So i had a burglar alarm fitted with panic buttons upstairs, i asked Lex about it and she knew nothing about it, now her mother always has a lowlife boyfriend and i think they had been drinking or doing substances and she had a nightmare, because the police just couldnt work it out how he got in the place, the mother just told me a load of crap, as grand parents we cant do anything about her, Right i feel better that i have that off my chest, carry on

I don't know what to say Reg. I'd start keeping a log of what is going on , down to the last detail i.e having to fend for herself, bruises etc etc. You wouldn't care what shite is rained down on yourself as long as Lexie comes out of it still the brave little girl that she is.

I agree  Dermo, Reg might only be a grandparent but Lexie's welfare comes first and if there are concerns then there will be places to report it too

Lexie dosnt seem to be too bothered, but she may be hiding it,
Anyway she seems quite grounded and grown up, her mother is her mother, we all know about it

The Brodies have landed in Galway safe and sound. I'll meet them tomorrow night and show them about the place
