Dermo, sussed out that back street pub, it's called the "Jolly Angler", its on Ducie Street, that's right behind the Staycity apartments... It's got a Facebook page, dropped in last night for a couple on way to meet mates, interesting is the word I'd use,,, its done up in the same style as the Angel which I would call allergic to new paint,,, real bunch of interesting friendly people at the bar (hence two pints), would seem a bunch of guys come in and do a bit of a session most Tuesday and Sunday nights so will sus that out, there were also three guitars just lying around the place for anyone to just pick up and play, also a couple of comedians frequent the place, their names meant nothing to me but seemly they occasionally just do a random set...

So it's looking like you may have inadvertently put me on to somewhere that suits the needs...

Oh, they also sell beer...

Dropped in to that Jolly Angler last Tuesday night, its just came to my mind as will probably drop in again tonight, last week about half eight a guy comes in with a guitar and his other half has a squeeze box in hand, I think good somethings on,,, by nine o'clock there's eleven of them,,,, four with fiddles, one with Irish pipes, three with mandolins, one guy with a flute, a string instrument I didn't recognise and a bodhran, one of the guys that brought a mandolin in I recognised, Mike Harding, he presented the BBC radio two folk program at one time, it was all traditional folk stuff they played, no signing, brilliant night... I say to the barman "eleven of them playing and only five punters at the bar unreal, you'd pay to listen to them", he says some nights there's there's double that amount playing... So be interesting to see how many turn up tonight, would seem there's nothing set in stone, could be  zero could be twenty odd...

I remember Mike Harding very well, big glasses and tache. Whats the beer like? Sounds just up my street, same as Cam.

Had a drive up to Westport today. Beautiful wee town.

Went Jolly Angler last night, 10 of them in about 5 of them same ones as last week, would seem it's one of thems birthday Saturday so they expect the place to be mobbed with loads of musicians...

Beer, a very small pub with an even smaller bar, Amstell lager, Guinness, and four draught/cask beers whatever you call it, about six spirits and wine, that's about it, place is different !!!

What days/nights you over Dermo...

We're over Saturday 11th Feb and staying in that Ibis hotel on Ancoats St ( have to stay there as part of the football package ). Then we will be staying in those city apartments on the Sunday and Monday nights, then home Tuesday afternoon.

You would love Westport Minty. Some really good pubs with and without music, and some great restaurants, though the pub grub there is excellent and relatively cheap.

just back from a meeting with the health authority about my folks.

Any change or same old, same old?

I laid it down big time with them. Turns out there is another option besides nursing home ( still funded by the family of course). There is an "AU Pair for Seniors" option. This is a strong possibility. I was probably too hot headed because I thought the health authority had the authority to section them. Turns out, we, the family, would have to get them made wards of court, and also, a senior counsel and solicitor would be appointed on their behalf and we would have to do the same. We wouldn't have much change out of ten grand and at the moment, the consultant doesn't think that they are at the stage yet when a judge would rule in favour of the nursing home option. So maybe a little light at the end of the tunnel. On the other hand, its taking a massive toll on my brother. I last saw hin at the end of June. He looks ten years older now. I drove by him, while he was walking on the footpath outside the offices. I had to look twice.

I don't know what the feck I'd do to be honest. I feel for you pal...

Today I made a nice checker plate step for the back of my camper. Knew it would come in handy one day. Still some left...........
Off to Epsom tomorrow and then Brighton on Saturday with the VW club. Kevs Jan and Clare are meeting me on Saturday. Cool, yeah, I did mean the weather.  Looks like rain too. Then Hastings Sunday.
