Today I have actually managed to open the passenger door on new VW Camper, this has been defeating me for ages but it finally succumbed with the aid of a big rubber mallet and crowbar. Having now got the lock mechanism off I can see its all rusty inside. I shall give it a Kerosene bath.

As said got flights booked for last two weeks March, had been looking at flights from Manchester but they were a bit price then just before Christmas Ryanair came up with return flights £52,,, ok you gotta book a case £50 return and £12 return to pre book seats but with all airlines you've gotta add that on, so at £26 each way base price went for it...
Still looking for accommodation, been looking hotels and appertments around the PDLA/Los Cris border area, hotels silly prices, got a couple enquiries ongoing with apartments but again no bargains, with what's going on Turkey and North Africa only to be expected...
Also sites like Owners Direct etc are well down on the amount of apartments being advertised, suspect due the "illegal let tings" issue, need to find some long lost cousins......

Re: What are you doing today??
Today Mathews I need a bit advice, looking at booking an apartment, it's on a site called Canariassunnyplaces.com looks like a private apartment on a residential complex, it's also advertised on a couple of different sites and the enquiries take you to the same person, have asked to pay by PayPal for security reasons and are being asked to pay 20% upfront either by bank transfer or credit card, anything sound dodgy? If not, which of the two is the safest way to pay...
The email replies I'm getting are from:- canaries global invest S.L I-0003479
Having googled the company it ties it to all the major holiday letting company's, is it a kosher outfit...

Woman who is replying has given other available apartments on dates required, plus options on same complex, apartment I'm looking at has bookings up to mine but none after, others blank,,, no reviews, but I've visited so many sites now and think "residential" owners are so scared to give anything away about location etc they've deleted any reviewers or pictures that give away exact location in fear of the illegal renting issue, personally I'd rather rent a private apartment as the quality is normally superior (Reg,s excluded), but you read so much about scams...

Re: What are you doing today??
There is a list of dodgy websites on this thread. More than one has "Canary" in the title. Don't even think of paying by bank transfer. you have absolutely no comeback on it. with Paypal, you can open a case against the other party if something goes wrong, but that still is no guarantee of refund. Paypal keep your and the other party's financial details so supposedly they can deduct funds from one or the other. The trouble is, if, the other person empties the account, then there is nothing to deduct. On saying all that, I have opened 6 or 7 disputes over the years and have always found Paypal very helpful.Adam Mint wrote:Today Mathews I need a bit advice, looking at booking an apartment, it's on a site called Canariassunnyplaces.com looks like a private apartment on a residential complex, it's also advertised on a couple of different sites and the enquiries take you to the same person, have asked to pay by PayPal for security reasons and are being asked to pay 20% upfront either by bank transfer or credit card, anything sound dodgy? Re: What are you doing today??
I have lost track of what sites i have checked and who I have contacted. Also my daughter has been doing the same. Not looking good at all for her. We did find a place but it was a 2bed penthouse, which we don't need for silly money.Adam Mint wrote:Mermaid wrote:I went and looked Minty and everyone i looked at the bloody availability is blank. Re: What are you doing today??
Just did a quick check, they are advertising on Trip Advisor. They are also coming up on a company search here. Ask them for the owner's number so you can check their bonafides. ( though you probably won't get it if its a let on a residential complex). Ask them how they can confirm they are legit. Usually, the scam websites ask for 100% money up front.
