Needs must, helping daughter to move from Sunny Surrey to Shivering Shropshire. Her OH has to continue working his notice ParcelForce and Xmas cannot give him the time off. So mum to the rescue.

Re: What are you doing today??
Went to North Norfolk yesterday where the Sat-navs dont work to collect a Miele tumble dryer and a quality set of saucepans (the handles fell off the prestige ones with the life-time guarantee I bought 30 odd years ago) and then we had Xmas dinner with the MG club in a pub near Swaffham. Tasteless frozen veg but the rest was OK. Today I spot painted the stains on the kitchen ceiling with Zinnser 1 2 3, turned out I had half a tin. Needed two coats though. 2" of snow this morning. Looked lovely Reg.

Useless stuff. Its water based. I'd give it another coat just to be sure.Perfectspecimen wrote:Went to North Norfolk yesterday where the Sat-navs dont work to collect a Miele tumble dryer and a quality set of saucepans (the handles fell off the prestige ones with the life-time guarantee I bought 30 odd years ago) and then we had Xmas dinner with the MG club in a pub near Swaffham. Aye, girnin get that Dermot.
Had just the job for him today. we had a huge Portuguese laurel bush in the corner of our back garden which we wanted removed, guy gave us a quote after we sent him a photo , oh it's just a bush he said I'll dig it out by the roots, what a caper he was there until darkness fell and had to work by the security light, him and his mate were knackered but the best bit was when we asked him how much we owed him he had forgotten and asked for £5 less than he had quoted , of course I gave him a£5 tip

You cant put plastic ceiling in a 300 year old house, it would be sacrilege.Mcqueen wrote:Clad it with plastic boards from wickes done for life then, l lowered the bathroom ceiling put a fan and led lights in, perfect

Finally finsished stripping wallpaper in hotel in Connemara. 10 ft feckin' ceilings. And the "painter" who was in before, just prior to the wallpaper going up, never sealed the feckin' walls. Hence, the wallpaper is a feckin' nightmare to get off. Kent!.

Re: What are you doing today??
Well today Mathew I've just been having a bit of a chuckle reminiscing over something that happened Wednesday night, it was pool night, I'm in the pub, weathers horrendous, snow, sleet, torrential rain, one of lads comes in drenched and not in a good mood, would seem he had a good waterproof jacket on and that was the problem,,, jacket pockets were made of same waterproof material, would seem the way the rain had been driving at him one of the pockets filled up with water, just happened to be pocket he had his phone in,,, oops...
