Re: What are you doing today??
Just got a call from a housing association to take a look at one of their apartments. I'm going to charge an arm and a leg in the quote. It's one of those I don't really want and if I get it, it will have to be worth my while. The advantages of working for these associations is that you will end up with an endless supply of work and guaranteed payments. Disadvantage is that they will go with cheapest generally, and you end up with your daily rate being diluted just to keep them happy. Also, for outside work you need safety statements, risk assessments , hi viz bibs, safety notices etc etc. Much better with private clients.

Most painter around here on these jobs now use access equipment not scaffold but you need to be trained and have certification to use them, if I were you stick to what you are doing probably better money and you may get a surprise how cheap painters are doing work like this for3rdforum wrote:This was actually suggested to me in complete seriousness!Mcqueen wrote:Do it overnight so no fecker see's you guy i know puts scaffold up over motorways overnight

Re: What are you doing today??
I use access equipment myself when needed Jim. Have all the tickets required. ( Have my own cherrypicker ). The problem I have here is that the cherry picker will be on a busy street and the council won't obviously close it. If I have scaffolding put up, it will run into thousands and the hotel will insist that it is done on my insurance. The council is looking for written indemnification to tune of 6.4 million to allow me to close the footpath on which the scaffolding is to be erected.angusjim wrote:Most painter around here on these jobs now use access equipment not scaffold but you need to be trained and have certification to use them, if I were you stick to what you are doing probably better money and you may get a surprise how cheap painters are doing work like this for3rdforum wrote:This was actually suggested to me in complete seriousness!Mcqueen wrote:Do it overnight so no fecker see's you guy i know puts scaffold up over motorways overnight
