I think this one may outlast me. Mind you the Forth Bridge (Rail) opened in 1890. Amazing longevity!

Re: New Forth replacement crossing.
Don't know if this new bridge will help congestion much as both road bridges seem to share exactly the same road infrastructure on both sides, when we crossed last week there were delays on the Edinburgh side on the road before the junction for the new bridge so fail to see what difference the new bridge will make ,had time to think about it sat on the bus and not having to think about driving

Re: New Forth replacement crossing.
Correct...
Shit I need a drink..........
Road infrastructure around Edinburgh is terrible, worst one being when they extended the M8 to join the Edinburgh ring road,,, motorway ends a roundabout with traffic lights,,, WTF, and at the roundabout you have the choice, left on to the ring road to head north, right on to the ring road to head south, or straight on in to a retail park,,, oh, the owners of the retail park did fund the project...
And also, bridge wasn't built to relieve traffic congestion, old one was having problems supporting the weight of modern traffic, especially HGV's as their individual weight has increased so much since bridge was first built, cables are going "ping", they have sound sensors monitoring it,,, plus a few years back they had to strengthen the towers as they were crumbling under the strain...
