Be interesting to see if this gets any better, morning rush hour heading south and evening rush hour heading north have allways been a nightmare with the bridge/road infrastructure unable to handle it, and basically the new bridge is two lane carriageway each way same as old bridge, so all that same traffic (minus the odd bus and taxi which will still use the old bridge) will be getting filtered down in to two lanes same as before to cross the bridge,,, only difference it is new bridge is planned to be motorway so 70mph speed limit when fully operational, but with heavy goods vehicles restricted 56mph and only two lanes how much difference will that make...
So will the new road infrastructure do its job of filtering the many routes heading to the bridge down in to two lanes successfully ???
£1.35 billion,,, mmmm, well I suppose at least the cables ain't going ping,,, yet...

From what I've read old bridge is gonna be closed for a few weeks for repair then open for buses, taxis, cyclists and pedestrians only...

Re: New Forth replacement crossing.
Pretty crap and it's due to the close proximity to the bridge of the South Queensferry slip road and on the other side the Inverkeithing slip road...cars on the inside lane have to slow to let them merge.

Ah, would seem things are returning to usual, Oh, usual was shit traffic jams...

Extract from article:-
Congestion has affected both sides of the new £1.35bn bridge across the Forth since its opening, with performance being monitored closely by Traffic Scotland, Amey and Transport Scotland.
'Under review'
Transport Scotland said that while journey times were returning to "more usual levels" the new arrangements were "still bedding in and are being kept under review".

Re: New Forth replacement crossing.
would the new bridge not suffer from the same traffic problems as the old one if the same amount of traffic is crossing??

The new bridge is a replacement. It's only there to replace the failing old bridge. Any problems that were there before will still be there...

Re: New Forth replacement crossing.
Yeah, but I predicted five years ago it was a waste of money and would not solve the congestion issue, surely when your spending £1.35 billion you get it right,,, I wonder how much was spent on consultants fees,,, if I could predict it wasn't gonna help matters how come the so called experts couldn't...
